Dick Dastardly
$119 + Shipping and handling ($7.25 Federal minimum wage) x (8 Hours of labor) = ($58 Labor Cost) ($36 My salary converted to hourly) x (8 Hours of labor) = ($288 Labor Cost) Yeah ... I'm not going to spend ~$400+ just to find out what I just wasted a day on is "on the doo doo end of the spectrum" ... If you work at McDonalds then it's still ~$200+ and an entire day wasted ... And that money prolly means more to a minimum wage worker then it would to me ... just think...you lose $288 every time you sleep a full night. Going to a movie costs you $92 plus snacks..ouch, expensive life
Tommy.
Wait for a real re-spray but that's not an option. My clearcoat is peeling in 3 different places on my wagon and I'm gonna do the right thing and get it re-sprayed this winter.
Gideon35T
My point was simply the value of your time when trying something that may end up "on the doo doo end of the spectrum...." That same amount of time could be spent on paint or a motor swap with better results. I wouldn't waste that much time just to stand back and look at it saying "Well, I guess that didn't turn out like I expected ..." then undo what I just did. If any of you are budget minded then learning to paint is your best bet. Materials are cheap and you can practice on damn near everything. Hell, there's entire forum threads dedicated to people that have rattle canned entire cars. They come out good when the painter knows how to prep and took the time to do some practice work beforehand. Now, go look up the comparable threads on diy entire car vinyl jobs. If it came out nice then it was $$$.

Guest luke_jones
I would have to vote for saving the $$ and putting it towards a real paint job. Way too much effort and money involved for a temporary solution.

Thorsteenster
Or if you've really got the balls to step up...this! If I had the money for a decent paint job, I'd be all over this color. Not sure what the color is called, but this or Hugger Orange.
lookforjoe
I think any wrap is going to look bad over poor paint - it's like painting over poor prep work - it all shows up in the finish.. those hot rods in the 40-50' used acrilic paint they didn't need clear coat. it was all oil based stuff. If I am wrong let me now. Acrylic is not oil based - Lacquer is oil base. Pretty sure acrylic paint was not used on cars until much more recently...
