rmorse
So, I had a transmission leak, coming from passenger side of the transmission, right where the axle slides in. No biggie, figured it was the seal. However, I changed out the seal this weekend and it's still leaking. Ideas? Maybe I didn't push the seal in far enough? I pushed it to where the old one was....flush with the tranny. I was also very careful not to score the tranny when I was taking the seal out. Any ideas? Not terribly concerned about it, since I plan on doing a manual swap this summer/next summer.
Dick Dastardly
OE seal? Did seal possibly get tweaked a little when you pushed it in? Maybe in a little crooked..
rmorse
Yes OE seal, and yes, it did get tweaked....I pushed it in a side at a time. I guess I shouldn't have done that.... Can I redo it, using the same seal?
aggarcia
It the leak where the seal meets the axle shaft or the seal sits in the transmission casing? I replaced a seal and it leaked because I pushed the seal too part in. You could take the seal out, inspect for damage. If it is ok, then re-install in another slightly different location. You need to install the seal evenly. I used a big socket to press it in. Good Luck. AG

Can I redo it, using the same seal? I would honestly buy a new one and press it evenly..If you bend them they no longer fit correctly and you will never bend it back perfectly.
