Serge
I have painted trim which i think looks good, but you have to paint all the trim, not just the side parts Probably also want to do the door handles, too. In your signature the door handles are painted and it looks great. Without it, I think it would look off.
Kevin.
SEM! That's the other option I forgot! I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with that. Serge your thread about you painting your bumpers with SEM looked really good

BtownVolvo
peanut butter Not really a permanent option, but it worked surprisingly well! (you can see the comparison)
JRL
The appropriate word here is PAINT. You can smooth them out and paint them body color if you want the X/70 look, or use bumper grey/black spray paint for the original look., Regardless, the best, most permanent, and the best looking solution is to do it right, and paint them. I just did my 99 XC, a real PIA to do timewise with its large bumpers and rocker panels, all of which had turned white, the results were awesome, it looked almost brand new when finished, (Front bumper had not been done at the time of this picture, I did it in stages)

drin850
I've used Forever Black before and it worked quite well. Unfortunately it didn't look so good after a year (had to re-apply). Last year I tried a trim paint specific for black trim on cars(can't remember the brand). Turned out great and it still looks good today, with the exception of the bumper trim that started to flake off, most likely due to bad prep before painting.
