kalvin Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 Agreed. Non-functional bolts for the loss, wish these were real 2 piece, but whatever. These were half the budget I was originally planning to put down for. It's all good, CKs are sitting in my garage and can go on anytime.
exexpat Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 I don't want to be a downer, but these look very average to me. I'm no fan of BBS and actually do everything I can to not conform to the whole BBS RS worshipping thing (that is why I abused the fakes as winter wheels), but the BBS CKs are my preferred choice also.
Raintracks Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 I would get rid of these asap and put the wheels you have on your sig back on. Those are 100x better. Or get some CCW's.
Fin-Solo Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 I like em dude, just get the car as a whole another 1.5 inches down and itll be nice.
TheOtherWhiteMeat Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 I like this wheel. I'm thinking I will put them on my 944, but in 10" rear and 9.5" front. You could have probably done 9.5's on all 4 corners, which provides 3.66" lip. The 10's have 4.66" lip. Get some KW coilovers, and you'll be set.
Ghost Shadow Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 Needs more low, and the old set looks better:P
DevolvR Posted March 18, 2012 Author Report Posted March 18, 2012 I like this wheel. I'm thinking I will put them on my 944, but in 10" rear and 9.5" front. Actually the moment I put them on and noticed the backspacing at the rears, I wanted the 9.5".. Fronts are at the maximum limit as they are, going 9.5 at the front will be rubbing on the inside and I'll need to change my turning radius to Battleship levels... As for coil overs, I can do it, but I'll have to forego the 4C system and solder in resistors on the 4C harnesses. I actually prefer the 4C active chassis buttons. So I'm looking to drop about 3/4inch front, 1 inch rear by cutting coils. My other idea is ordering a set of new 4c struts and converting them to coil overs by cutting off the spring perches, sleeve them and drop them to the lowest setting.
TheOtherWhiteMeat Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 Wheels always take precedence. The rule of thumb is; when you find the wheel you want, you make the car accomodate the wheels. I know it's twisted thinking for most, but it's what sets your car apart from the rest....and as you know, there's a lot of 'the rest' around here. IMO, I would trade the expensive 4c system for moar low. It's fashion not function. People don't care how fast your car is, but they will never forget how beautiful it is.

Certainly, you've touched on several issues that I battle with. I totally understand the fashion/function thing. I understand that VS have a small small club of the low stance Volvos or (hehehe Jags); exepat, Mattphi and youself. I certainly love the look and a good part of me simply says: drop the car a good inch and be apart of this exclusive club. I get to see my car on "Stance" domain sites etc. (lol maybe not, well whatever) Then there's the other side... I said this before though, it's slightly different with the R. I don't know what it is, and I tell you, I dropped my 850 with coilovers and dropped it as low as possible on the car. I had no issues doing it, but this R was a bit different. I actually got fond of the added electronic features, switching to comfort, sport, advanced is a nice. Okay so let's say Fuck it, pull the 4C and run coils. Will it get the heights I want? Probably, but I'll have to live with the harsher ride, the error messages, the lack of ability now to instantly change drive characteristics. Perhaps I suck it up and give up those things to look good. But then again maybe i'm past that phase and just want a good looking, comfortable and fast car. I'm seriously on the fence.
