Time for an update.

Before auto-x started for the season, I "unhooked" my mufflers for a few weeks and ran this super awesome $7 turndown as my exhaust tip....

I made sure to cut the pipe in a straight section, so I can use a 2.5" ID sleeve to re-install my mufflers for DD duty. They are currently re-installed, but I think I'm going to pull them off to get some sound clips.

Here's a couple shots from Auto-x this spring at RPI. Tires (205/55/16 all season) and stock suspension are my weakest links, so those are next on the mod list. After that, its time to deal with that pesky auto trans.....!

Here's a video my friend took on the last event of the spring. I ended up in 5th, but was in 4th most of the day. On his last run, a kid in his '10 135i 6MT beat my best time by 0.4 seconds to steal 3rd place

Some time around late April, my heater core gave up on me:

That was all sorts of fun to clean up:

Did a photoshoot with a few friends from school, including Matt (babyclaude) and his C30

Got inspired by a Speedhunters post on the benefits of a slow shutter, so I played around a bit at night

And last but not least, replaced my ETM and cleaned up my engine bay a bit. Little cleaning, polishing, painting, and I installed the P2 R fuel rail cover I got from Semir (D S50R)

By the end of summer I'm planning on having some new wheels+tires and getting the suspension sorted out a bit.

The wheels are from a 06 STi.

Made by BBS (RV724), they're 17x8 et+53. So with 19mm adapters, there is a final offset of et+34 all around. Due to the wider rear track of an AWD model, the rear offset is equivalent to et+24 on a FWD car.

Tires are 235/45/17 Hankook Ventus V12s, and because the BBS wheels are forged, they only weigh about 18 lbs each.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Neu, I do rub on the rear a decent amount, the fender liners are already worn away. There is plenty of space to clear the rear arm bolt that is a problem with higher offset wheels. I don't have rubbing on the front at full lock or the fender lip, but I have yet to really push the car through a turn because I am still breaking the tires in. I don't anticipate any front rub under DD conditions, but if I were to auto-x right now I do think I'd rub a bit at the outer fender lips under hard cornering. A quick fender roll or more front camber would fix that though.

Here are a few better pictures now that I've had time to swap the snows off and put my new Ventus V12s on, and get my car cleaned up a bit.

And here's a quick sound clip of the exhaust with the mufflers removed:

Video from autocross on the 9th (the audio sucks, hit mute)

Took 6th out of 15. Should've had 5th, but the other 4 cars ahead of me were very heavily modded and about 3-4 seconds ahead of my time. The V12s were a big improvement over my old all-seasons, more grip and faster responses. They do have a soft sidewall for the type of tire, but I also should've added some air before running hot laps.
