REUBS4
Got the bay stripped down, scuffed up, and painted. Hopefully within the week, I'll be able to get the bay put back together, and with any luck, get the engine in.

fitsofrage99
wow looks great. what did you use to clean the valve cover before you painted it. the paint seemed to cover it up really nice. I cleaned mine up pretty good but it still looks pretty cloudy..not looking to polish, just for the subtle gray paint like you.
REUBS4
I masked everything off, then sandblasted it. After cleaning things up, I sprayed it with a metal etching primer, followed by colored engine enamel and clear coat engine enamel.

You hand sanded the engine bay and covered it it our time honored DuPont Nason in Volvo 427 grey. Can't wait to see the new motor in the new engine bay! The process I described was in response to fitsofrage99's question. I forgot to quote. Lets hope the engine fires up once it's in its new home. REUBS4
Got the motor in today. Still needs a few things done before I can fire it up: Needs new battery, radiator and front end need to go back in, all fluids, clutch bleeding, and a few other misc. things. Snabb short shift + bushings
Kevin.
why is there a metal heat shield if it's not a turbo motor.....
REUBS4
why is there a metal heat shield if it's not a turbo motor..... Because the NA heat shield was trashed, the turbo shield looks much cleaner, and in the event that this project takes a turn for the "quicker" It's one less thing to worry about.
