I "personally" feel it doesn't matter who really gets elected as a divided house will always just clash on ... everything. I mean, I disliked Bush, as he was actually a moron. But is that to say that anyone would have done better in that situation? I honestly can't say Gore would have done better, (probably not, LOL).

I will be voting Obama. I think the only way to really judge him is another 4 years, but his first 4 were pretty much tainted with all the bad that could happen in this country. It isn't easy to walk into a cluster F**K and have to fix it all in only 4 years when no one is supporting you.

I read that a while back when the question was first asked, and thought it was rather interesting. Credible? No. But certainly not something to ignore either.

I unfortunately do not follow politics as closely as I would like to, but isn't the reason for enormous clashes/lack of progress when you have an R dominated congress but a D pres (and vice versa)?

Just leave it to mainstream media to make someone look completely the opposite of the way they are. I don't doubt anything. If all that is ever caught of someone is their blunders, than they will always look stupid.

Your sanity is better off if you don't follow it closely.

In the past there was always comprimise. One side wanted this, the other side wanted that and usually they would meet somewhere in the middle to get things done. Clinton was the last president where that still worked. Under Bush it changed. Bush wasn't the main reason, but his spending money left and right helped. The Republicans are becoming more conservative and shifting farther to the right. Moderate republicans are a thing of the past, and the new conservatives won't negociate. Last year they almost forced the government to shutdown just to get their way. They absolutely will not raise taxes, even though the only real way to solve the debt problem is to both raise taxes and cut spending.

The real problem is there is too much money involved. Congress doesn't represent the people, they represent the biggest donors to their election campaigns. This is a problem on both sides and isn't likely to change since campaign finance reform bills are immediately smothered.

I gave up on voting a long time ago when I figured you go into a booth to pick the lesser of two evils, that exactly what I want especially when the government is truly a one party system and they use the media to play the game. Divide and conquer the people is their game so they can push their own agenda through like ndaa without giving us a vote and other acts they are passing to take away our rights without giving us a vote on them. At the end of the day when you go into the booth you are just voting for a face and nothing more because we really know who runs washington. I mean has their ever been a president that made good on his promises after getting into office. Its like the mars candy bar corporation just made statements that they are all of sudden becoming health conscious and they are downsizing candy bar size or how many you get in a pack. The funny thing is they are not reducing the price since you are now getting less. If the corporation was truly health conscious it would pull their junk off the market. The true motive was to offer you less to make more money and that they really dont give a crap about your health. This is an example of how the government is run as a whole with their cheap tatics like the mars corporation.

So your solution is to do nothing? Sweet. You're playing the very game you're trying to protest. Its like you're completely unaware of the other parties. Its a "two" party system because people like you don't like the two parties, so they just don't vote instead.

Ok just read the 'mars' stuff. WTF?

Mars stuff was only used as an example to show its always for their own interest and the tatics they use to act like they are looking out for your well being, same thing the government does everyday. Do you have the time, money or resources to go against big government, than whats the point of voting, do you think casting a vote each election is going to change anything? Unless the people are willing to change and all get together and protest as a uniform unit thats the only way to get true change. If they stick to this left and right b.s. and continue fighting amongst themselves we will just be heading down the same path we have been on. Also has anything changed from the last president to the current president, the answer is no we are in the same boat and if you feel that casting your vote is going to solve issues its a waste of time. At the end of the day anybody can be bought and thats all poltics is unfortunately. If you feel their is truly a difference between the two parties I feel bad for you because at the end of the day, who do you think funds those two parties. What self respecting American can go into a booth and say I am going to vote for the lesser of two evils. So if you really want true change than we need come together which wont happen so its a never ending cycle.

If only we could all get together and conclude we agree on something, then we could all pick someone new. We'll call it Election Day. And we'll put together these booths to vote in. Novel idea eh?

People keep buying Mars candy products, so what they are doing works. They aren't "out to get us", they're out to get our money. So for as long as the population continues to demonstrate the same ignorance, they will continue getting America's money. So people need to 'VOTE' and not buy their products. Instead of saying, oh well not buying their stuff won't matter. I'll take a snickers.

It will stay the same for as long as you continue shrugging your shoulders, acting defeated, and promoting the self-defeating concept that your vote doesn't matter. You can point the finger at all these other people, but you and your ignorance is part of the problem. Keep not doing anything, I'm sure it'll work out.

If you aren't registered to vote, or specifically choose not to vote, then you have no voice.

You also can't complain about a system you aren't willing to help change. You are voiceless, and as such, should remain quiet.

my problem is if you don't vote, you are making a choice. The problem is the choice can play a major role. what does it really take to educate yourself a little and make a choice.

at one point, there was like 174 people running for president this year. Buddy, just quit, but find whats important to you, and get involved.

all politics are local, the choice on local stuff is probably more important than this PRES stuff.

That would work if 95 + % of the population voted. There is a big difference between whether an individual voice matters, and how much power that once voice carries.

Exactly. The local county official, district rep, and the next HOA president of your neighborhood has more impact over your life than who becomes president.
