My 320Mm Bbk... By Volvo!

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have been looking for some new brakes for quite a couple of months now. The Porsche BBK was on the top of my list, downside was that I would have to switch to 18" on my 850 T-5R and would have to say goodbye to my newly coated 17" Titans. Then we have the WP and AP kits, good performance but very expensive, pair of new disks will go for $800 here in The Netherlands.

Then another Volvo driver here made me some brackets to fit a 320mm kit from a Volvo V50/S40 T5 AWD Geartronic, also mounted on some of the ph2 C70 2.4 and T5 cars from the last five years.

Positve

--> Larger discs and piston that 302

--> Very affordable: $350 from the breakers

--> New discs from Bosch are just $120 a pair, Volvo still <$200

--> Performance pads available

--> Fits behind Titans

--> Brakes a lot harder and longer , even after braking hard 3-4 times in a row

--> Bracket shoulnd't be hard to build

Negative

--> Big, but not really Big Brakes like the Porsche set, which does brake harder

Would i recommend this kit to be used for a die-hard 450bhp track-only race car? NO!

Is this a perfect, low cost, high quality and easy to maintain set for a fast road and some trackdays car? YES! :)

Would love to see brackets made for this!

Also, am i to understand i could buy the calipers(w/core charge of course),rotors, and pads all on that site for this kit? If so...this sounds like it would cost a little bit more than 302mm, but with so much more power!

Be even cheaper to just get new ones from Tasca!

Wow, definitely wanna keep track of this thread

Yes you could just buy the whole lot at the dealers, but remember that the calipers come without brackets. Really: breakers are your best option.

As for the brackets, what you do is take the original bracket and weld a 6-7mm thick extra piece of flat steel to the side that connects to the "hub"(?). One bolt hole, I believe the lower one, is the one that you can maintain. The one on top you have to re-drill with just a 12-15mm offset. Sorry I can't help you guys with pictures, will

Try to search some:

Again, performance is like how Volvo should have sold this car from the factory!

fyi Porsche 928 n/a calipers are for 320mm rotors...might be worth looking at, I actually have a set for sale :D
