joe89245
Hello, I have an '89 Volvo 240 Wagon with somewhere around 300,000 miles and it has never given me any serious issues. Recently I had a shop install a second alternator in place of the A/C. It is not currently being used though as I have encountered a frustrating series of no-start problems. I first noticed the problem after the interior had been ~75% stripped. I drove the car for a while after the second alternator was installed. I followed this advice from Three Fat Tigers ( ) and the car started to crank after I wired the STT to the starter solenoid, however it still will not start. Prior to the car having been worked on it never had any sign of trouble when starting. Is there any possible explanation for one issue causing both no-start problems? The car has not been driven for about 60 days. Thanks for any help.
joe89245
Solved... it was the 25A under-hood fuse. The fuse was not blown, but replacing it resulted in a healthy start. I'm guessing I could have simply cleaned it. Solved... it was the 25A under-hood fuse. The fuse was not blown, but replacing it resulted in a healthy start. I'm guessing I could have simply cleaned it. I am sorry to double post but I cannot figure out how to edit my previous post. I forgot to ask: Is there any danger in leaving the Starter Test Terminal wired directly to the starter solenoid? Am I bypassing anything desireable other than the safety of not being able to start in drive or reverse?
