ManAboutIt Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 I need a pic or two of other custom or bolt-on setups under the car so these local shops know what direction I want to go with what they have in stock. I wanna have them do a 3" turbo-back system with resonator and cat. Also, is it better to do a straight-through muffler or a baffled brand like Borla or Flowmaster?
volvoguy23 Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 I would do straight thru if your gonna have a cat and a resonater...you wanna be able to hear it lol
ManAboutIt Posted June 28, 2012 Author Report Posted June 28, 2012 I would do straight thru if your gonna have a cat and a resonater...you wanna be able to hear it lol I don't want it loud as hell though (and getting me ticketed back to the stock one like the Honda kids), hence the resonator. It will sound nice, regardless, Im sure. I'm more concerned with freeing up as many ponies as possible while staying smog legal.
Jardim Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 a muffler with a cat will keep it quiet enough, the cat plays a significant role in reducing noise. unless you have cops with decibel readers in your area.....
Dick Dastardly Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 custom 3" with a 3" Magnaflow cat and a 3" Magnaflow race muffler on the back. I have since added a Magnaflow resonator in the straight section to tame the drone. Not really quiet though..got a lot of bark and a bunch of burble on throttle lift Sounds better than most systems and was cheap. Ask anyone who's heard it Performance Cat does almost nothing to quiet the car.. My set up passes E-check and visual inspection with no CEL
BlackT5 Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 My home made 3" turbo-back. 18" Vibrant resonator and Vibrant straight through flat black muffler.
survolvo Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012  So limited on what I can do . You guys make me jealous. Stupid EPA and CARB hefferpoop.
ManAboutIt Posted July 1, 2012 Author Report Posted July 1, 2012 Still ISO a picture that shows the cat-back underside of the car, including (and especially) what the exact bend in the middle looks like...
