854TGA+
FYI, oven cleaner & a tooth brush will make those pistons look like new. Make sure you wash them with hot water & soap right after using oven cleaner & oil them down. Safety glasses are good thing also! Seeing is believing / cleaned & not cleaned
FINN
Sand blasting works wonders cleaning up those pistons and block as well.
850wagonT5
Hm.. I should figure out a way to log timing then as i do not have OBD II. The OBD port will still give you ignition timing on the 94-95 turbos. The resolution isn't the greatest, but I use Torque for Android. You can log any parameter you wish with it. Martijn_B
Thanks for the tips! I'll have the pistons Cleaned at the machine shop, they will do it for free so hey why not Now I still have to figure out those bearings, shouldn't I be able to measure something? FINN
Volvo sizes their factory bearings by the stampings on the block and crank. Are you ordering OEM bearings? Lots of us are using Toga bearings. Hussein being the first that I know of. Much cheaper than OEM.
Martijn_B
I was going to re-use the old ones as they look perfect as the machine shop said. We measured them today with a micrometer but they are all of the exact same thickness.

FINN
That certainly did the trick. What solution?
Martijn_B
I used Tickopur R33 universal cleaning liquid, 5% solution. I'm wondering if I can also clean my valves in the Ultrasound cleaner? Furthermore, I have started tuning with the Turbo Tuner yesterday. As a basemap I used a map of a friend of mine, which is tuned for a 19T with 440cc injectors. I run a K24 with greens, and our setup is very similar except for me having both intake and exhaust '93 N/A cams. (set on turbo cams timing). The tune was way too rich, around 10,4 AFR at WOT. So when trying to lean it out towards 12,7 the engine started to disagree around 11,3 AFR. It started to misfire/backfire (made a "popping" sound). Any idea what this could be? If it runs richer then there's no problem, but as soon as i pass 11,3 AFR the trouble begins. I installed my other ECU on the way back home, and found out it also pops (but only once at 5000rpm). Never used to do that before. Ignition system failure? (plugs?)
850wagonT5
You can do valves in there, yes...though, bead blasting is faster and yields better results.
Martijn_B
Yeah but I don't have a bead blaster. Found out my girlfriend put octane 95 in the car this weekend, so will add two bottles of octane booster and try again tonight. Anyone has a good address for subframe bushes? Might as well renew those when the Engine is out. Poly or stock Volvo, any good deals out there?
Martijn_B
Theres a sale going on on the Hahn Racecraft 16G 10cm2 turbo. They now sell at just $549. Looking for experiences with this turbo, wondering if it can bring me 400hp at the crank?
