gdizzle
i don't think anybody is hating on them per se'. i said I don't like them, don't understand the desire to permanently mark your body. Do something that could affect your potential jobs, potential earnings, finding a spouse etc. i can promise you, i wouldn't have many of my jobs if i was covered in INK. Many are done on a whim, or alcohol fueled spring break. you could Tie dye your face as far as I'm concerned. i'll still hang with you at travis's. i just wouldn't do that. Actually, you said you think they're ugly and they're a waste of money and then posted a picture to troll. Sounds like hating to me. <<<---thinks tats are ugly and a waste of money. <<<---pray my kids never get any. http://img.photobuck...o-locations.jpg <<<---prepares for the - one bomb thats about to go off lol.

prasamin
got one....and i wasn't drunk when i did it. i put it center of my upper back between the scapulas, lower than collar level, so it's pretty much for me..... It's an Om (in sanskrit of course), which stands for peace, and is, according to ancient sanskrit teachings, the first sound the universe made when it was created, and silence or "shanti" immediately followed...that's why you hear indian priest chanting "Ommmmm, shanti shanti shanti". I like the message, only because i believe even though it's taken as a religious symbol in Hinduism, the meaning itself signifies that there is no god, and that the universe was creating out of nothing, or a "big bang" sort of phenomenon. It's an interesting symbol if you think about it, and learn about it. I'm agnostic, so for me, it's fitting. I also had a ring made with a diamond Om on it in Sanskrit.....plan to get another one made possibly in Malyalam or Urdu. That being said, if you want to see it, you'd have to see it in person. I don't do the whole post pictures thing showing off tats and body parts!

Dick Dastardly
Its funny..I never was drunk with a single one of the many I have, It has never held me back from any job or relationship with a woman (and much to most peoples surprise I dated/married "professional" women). I had a good friend at Cornell (law school) who graduated #2 in his class and got a VERY good job and he was covered. There are many people in professional positions who have a shitload of tattoos and you don't realize it. My closest friend in Cleveland is a chemist at an toner/imaging company here and he is covered including his neck, throat, chin etc..Times have changed..the stigma is really just not what it used to be. Now obviously "FUCK YOU" tattooed on your forehead is a whole different ballgame, but those guys are in a whole different league than people who just get tattooed. And chicks who put sea creatures next to their genitals..well that has all sorts of odd undertones now doesn't it? 4

goldponcho
Times are a'changing. In the navy these days, I need to submit a request to get a tattoo anywhere visible (lower arms and such). Got mine years ago, sober, and it certainly weeds out those with similar interests from those that think I like cartoons too much.

Dick Dastardly
I think Mike secretly WANTS a tattoo... like those militantly anti-gay dudes who secretly suck dicks in rest stops, they have to be as anti as they can so no one will know their secret.. ;)

flyfishing3
I actually went to get one once I was so inebriated that the guy refused to do it. I think of him whenever I discuss this topic and send him ""thank you "" thoughts lol I could care less what a person does to themselves, I just don't want to hear hardship stories or carry there ass with my taxes handout. Call me prejudice, but I'd never hire a qualified person covered by visible tattoos if the are in the public representing me or my CO. I've seen instal crews refused admittance to people's houses to install Carpet with tats, gauged up ears, piercings
