netasp
Hi, I know about these guys: LT Motors, on Shore St. See Davor. Getty Automotive, on Canotek Rd. See Sean. Young St Garage, on....yup. See Dave H. Motor Medics, on Hunt Club Rd. Are there any other good mechanics in the Ottawa area? and place to buy parts as well used or new other than the volvo dealer. Let me know. Thanks
TaskMule
Parts from the junkyard can be had from Pieces Euro in Aylmer, QC on Vernon Road. Also, these guys apparently have some Volvo's on their lot; http://www.kennyupull.net/ I haven't checked them out in person yet. I buy most of my parts online, and have Davor or Dave install them. You can buy parts through Dave too, if you ask nice.
Rfamily
Taskmule is correct these are most of the guys with their own garages and I have been to most of them as well (same guys). These cars are not cheap to keep so be prepared to pay. If you want guys that us other/rent garages to do the work there are a few as well. As for parts, let me know what you need and I can get garage prices as well and am always willing to help. Rfamily (Tari)
netasp
Any updates on this post? I need a good volvo mechanic and good place to buy parts from. I've already tried Adria, they will never give you an estimate on how much are you expecting to pay and will always come up with extra sensor replacement here and there, a muffler hanger needed to be replaced (even though I was there about something else!) Any experience with Motor Medics? they don't have a volvo part inventory and I think they buy from the volvo dealer directly. please let me know thanks
TaskMule
You have two 25 year+ volvo veterans in Rfamily and I tell you what's up for Volvo in Ottawa, but you still want an update? Its a pretty limited market here, and there arent that many of us. But here's my 2c, again; Motor Medics are good, but nothing special, and are more into VW/Audi anyway. You have Davor at LT Motors, and Dave at Young Street. Those are your best options, aside from Sean Getty. Pretty much all the shops in town get their parts from Robert at Auto-Camping which is a wholesaler (so no over the counter buying for the public), or from the 2 Volvo dealer parts counters in the city . Or you can buy online. Thats about it. And remember; avoid Adria like the plague. Rip-off central.

I mean all of these guys charge about the same rate as the dealer, at least I know Adria charge $95/hr, Motor Medics $85/hr and St. Laurent Dealer about $96/hr I might have a bad DEM that possibly need to be repaired, I know the dealer will tell me to replace it, do you think those guys you recommended, would offer a repair service? I know the dealer is cheaper than Adria for sure... Thanks for your reply

Rfamily (Tari) Tari, I might need another DEM as my AWD stopped working, I got an "Anti Skid Service Required" only two times and one week a apart and never came bak again, I replace my Angle gear and the Sleeve and AOC pump. I was told at a time that my DEM is rusty and might go. Do u have an idea if a DEM can be part used? does it require a software download? A DEM can be rebuilt, and should not need programming, if it is the original unit from your vehicle. I found this out by searching this forum, BTW.
