gilber33
Did a mini mwc meet today and met a local dyno day filled with Volkswagens. Here's my best run where I made 288whp at 16psi. My dyno sheet: Run 1: Was with 20psi in 4th gear. Car got stupid lean and had spark blow out and it was knocking and it was all around not a good run. Run 2: 20psi in 3rd gear but the car hits 20psi so quickly that they didn't really get anything. Run 3: 16psi in 4th gear. Numbers were better, still a bit lean and but it was my highest power. Mods are: Rica Stage III Tune (custom for my set up) NA cams 19T FMIC Japanifold White injectors NA intake manifold and throttle body Intake and exhaust. Greddy Profec B Spec II EBC Pretty much all the basics. Talking with everyone we agreed that the first thing I need to do is get more fuel. So I'm going to add the Walbro pump and greens and get rid of the whites. Any other recommendations to making that dyno plot smoother?

lookforjoe
Get an ARD tune???? Pretty decent numbers. What is up with the boost control though, I thought the Greddy was pretty rock solid?
550
I still stick with we need to establish if it's the tune or the hardware behind it.
gilber33
re-gap to .026" You think more fuel and a re-gap would solve my issues? I mean, it's definitely where I'm going to start. Get an ARD tune???? Pretty decent numbers. What is up with the boost control though, I thought the Greddy was pretty rock solid? Do you think a tune is part of the uneveness of the curve? I know fuel played a huge roll in that and I don't know if a different tune will effect that. And what do you mean? I turned down the boost for the last run so he could dyno it in 4th. It's a great boost controller, just complicated as fuck to use. I still stick with we need to establish if it's the tune or the hardware behind it. Then I'll start with greens and a Walbro Is this the right one: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/vpn-gss342/overview/ I just wanted to see if someone else had any other opinions. Perhaps maybe others agreed the tune is part of the issue??

I mean, it's definitely where I'm going to start. re-gap will take car of your blow out...common issue at the higher boost levels. approaching 300whp with whites is no longer safe territory. Is it possible..certainly...I did it, but absolutely not recommended. Go greens and get a fuel pump that is not on its last legs...extra assurance and not very expensive. Jardim
You should probably go ARD for a smoother map. When you said "Run 2: 20psi in 3rd gear but the car hits 20psi so quickly that they didn't really get anything." it really made me think about the rods, 19Ts are dangerous, don't mess with it! Kit Vexed
you dont have a walbro? lol, so you changed to whites and didnt think to upgrade the fuel pump... ooookk.

I'll probably pick up one of the sets on ebay right now. Or maybe talk to Lee again. 'tis the one I bought Oh thanks Joe! I'll get that too. You should probably go ARD for a smoother map. The car is running an EBC, going with ARD isn't going to control the boost curve any differently than this RICA tune. The 19T is staying and they're not dangerous like everyone thinks. I've been running it for a couple years, hitting 20psi regularly lately. The 19T is a completely fine turbo if you can control the boost. ;)
Prince Ken
if Gilbert were a noob, ya'll would be annihilating him for having a 19t, whites, etc etc on a stock pump.. and then remind him how stupid of a question he has asked AND accuse him of a fake dyno sheet.. cmon - this is volvospeed! so i'll do it! dude, what would make you think to upgrade injectors, turbo and tune and NOT the fuel pump?! seems we've got chickens that refuse to flame *certain members... when it's those very members that talk the most $hit to others. THEY should get it as much as they give it =) im a noob btw. just wanted to break myself in right! congrats gilbert, you broke my posting cherry. annnd the scrutiny begins =)

Prince Ken
now that's the spirit! so your logic is what? ppl with "low post" counts are the only ones saying stuff? so nobody that posts on a reg basis talks stuff? ok. there wouldnt be a site if ppl who posted regularly didnt talk stuff lol. i've read plenty. you should be a lawyer though - your defense is intimidating.
