Tightmopedman9
From Matthew's Volvo site: the oil has been drained from cvvt hubs from all the turning and there is nothing to keep the piston inside from popping back and forth. The cams jump ahead as the lobe peaks are passed and then the next lobe retards the cam as you turn. Totally normal.
lookforjoe
Then you should be all set :-)
boxpin
And a 3" V-band adapter for the turbo. Only $40 for the adapter, V-band flange, shitty V-band clamp and metal gasket! Where did you get it? Do you have a link?
boxpin
Found and purchased a TDO6H-20G ...its now a reality.
Tightmopedman9
Nice! Any pictures of it? Water cooled? Internal wastegate? For the V-Band adapter Edited December 10, 2012 by Tightmopedman9
boxpin
Its in the mail, no pictures yet. Thank you for the adapter link.
Tightmopedman9
So I got the manifold back today and got the turbo mocked up. Bummer is that the current drain setup is too low. I made an intake from an older Jaguar air canister and an Apexi filter Also made a vent to atmosphere catch can.
mdlimy
reclock the chra so the drain is angled towards the drain port on the block. Hopefully your other lines will allow for this.
Tightmopedman9
Doesn't the drain need to be as close to vertical as possible?
Tightmopedman9
I just measured the distance from the drain to the block feed back and without the hose barb it is just shy of 2". The current barb I had on there sticks out from the flange 1.2". I need to find a shorter oil outlet barb. With other turbo setups it seems like the vertical distance from the drain of the turbo to the drain on the block is ~5". Maybe it's just an optical illusion... lookforjoe
Doesn't the drain need to be as close to vertical as possible? It does. Don't forget your engine doesn't sit level in the bay, so if anything, your CHRA will be canted toward say 1o'clock once installed. You may want to tip the motor closer to it's install position. You need a drain tube that angles right off the flange, with no adaptor in between. You can see my CHRA is canted somewhat away from the block, so when installed, it sits close to vertical.
Tightmopedman9
I wish my engine had come with the turbo oil drain back tube. Does anyone know if the stock drain flange will bolt to the 20G (I know the pipe will be in the wrong location but just wondering if the flange will bolt to the CHRA)

mdlimy
Doesn't the drain need to be as close to vertical as possible? Can be up to about 15* angle. I can only speak for hrc units like H, but a stock one can be slightly modified to fit, the flange its self bolts up fine.
