The truth in my statement is that they remembered the last time they negotiated with him on the debt ceiling and figured he would cave again. The difference is that we're post November 2012 - in which case he is no longer motivated to get reelected. Hence he doesn't care about that particular motivation. ;)

See Nate Silver's #5 on key take away's from the government shut down.

And the reality is, the Tea Party Republicans don't care as much either because they were banking on the fact that people hate the ACA so much that the Democrats will lose even more seats in Congress as a result of a backlash against the law. It's all about the incentives.

with all the FUCKING BULLSHIT from the tea party assholes, everybody's buddy McConnell was able to get some pork put in for Kentucky. How this is possible makes me want to punch babies right now.

You Fer's agreed for this stuff, pay for it.

adding pork for Kentucky is such an insult to anybody that was furloughed its crazy.

mcconnell got nearly 3 mil for a kentucky dam project. He should be booed out.

i take that back,

i'm seeing its nearly 3 billion for a troubled lock/dam project

-- A proposal to end the government shutdown and avoid default orchestrated by Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Democratic Leader Harry Reid includes a $2 billion earmark for a Kentucky project. Language in a draft of the McConnell-Reid deal (see page 13, section 123) provided to WFPL News shows a provision that increases funding for the massive Olmsted Dam Lock in Louisvillefrom $775 million to nearly $2. 9 billion.

yeah, reps. Fucrs.

You need to learn how to spell Mike. Well, and do addition too:

2.9 billion now allocated - 775 million previously allocated = 2.125 billion increase which < than 3 billion by ~1 billion

Yes but that is still only $2 billion more than we were originally going to pay for it. Go see what pork Reid and others got out of this...there's always give and take with the emphasis on take.

But be careful because Matt B will come on here and ask what you have against creating jobs in his hillbilly area of the country.

Ask yourself why Reid cares about flexibility for military sequestration funding? I wonder what one of Nevada's largest source of employment might be...

Nobody said it was a good idea. In fact it was the worst move possible for the Tea Party. If they had left it alone they could have instead watched everyone grouch about what a miserable mistake the ACA was as everything failed in the first two weeks. Talk about shooting yourselves in the foot. But by November 2014 the public will have completely forgotten about it.

This is the bullshit that needs to stop:::

Two weeks after Twitter filed the paperwork for a planned billion-dollar IPO, we learn that it's poised to take advantage of the same international tax loopholes as other large firms like Apple, Google, and Amazon. Citing Twitter Ireland documents, Valleywag reports that the company has all the requisite parts for the "Double Irish and Dutch Sandwich" — a scheme that can minimize a company’s tax exposure by enabling it to lease its intellectual property to foreign subsidiaries. The idea is to turn foreign profits into tax-free revenues, and everything from the existence of Irish shell companies to their Cayman Islands home base give ample insight into Twitter’s strategy.

Why? Its absolutely retarded that we tax companies in the first place.
