Racefan5401256
yes i am new to this forum i have a 91 volvo 740 this is my second 740 that i just baught and it ran fine when i baught it and then suddenly i have to now start my car with using starting fluid. i checked the cold start injector i used a probe to see if it was getting power to it and its not. i can not figure out why. Also when i do get it started it will sometimes idle fine and then other it will idle real rough exspecially when i put it into gear like (revearse, drive) i find my self having to have one foot on the brake and the other on gas in order to keep it running. But today it would idle fine in park and in gear. But when i would go to take off it would act like it would be really slugish to taking off but when it would get up and go finally it would drive fine. Can anybody please give me answers on to what it may be to fix this problem i need to get this problem fixed asap this is my daily driver so if you could inbox me thank you
Über855R
Welcome to the forum. Now get out. Just kidding, mostly. (See below.) You might get more help with that if you try TurboBricks. They are the more RWD oriented Volvo forum and will likely have many people who are knowledgeable about 740's. There are plenty here also but not nearly as many. Sorry I can't offer you any help directly related to your question.
vivalavolvo
Welcome! Check: -Idle Control motor -Throtle position switch -Clean Throttle body -unhook MAF and see if it still wants to stall Do you know how to check for codes? Let me know if you need help with any of this. Almost forgot, check for vac leaks.
okoye
My 93 240 did the same thing wouldnt start. so i replaced the fuel pump relay then it worked. still ran like crap. took the AMM from my 940 turbo and put it in the 240. car runs perfectly albeit a little rich. 1. check your AMM aka mass airflow sensor. its right after the airbox. unplug or swap it with a working one. 2. replace your fuel pump relay. it's cheap enough. check those and if that doesnt work. post back on the forum.
