Ok, bounce this around your head guys. C and i already debated.

I have a buddy who is a GUN FROM MY DEAD COLD HANDS guy.

He is also a MISSOURIAN BIBLE Banger and DID vote for AKINS.

we were discussing all this and he made me a proposal.

He would accept getting rid of all his guns and accept everybody had no guns if we got rid of all abortions.

thoughts. i know 2 separate things, but we all have to make choices.

I'm pro choice. Reason: It ain't my body, all I have to do is stick it in and keep it in. I don't feel I can say whether a woman can do or do not.

I agree with Fudge_Brownie, technological advances can hopefully one day solve this issue. But cramming some dumb ass law into the "system" won't do anything effectively. Like I have said before, good chance that people will just let their guard down and be hit harder than they were the first time.

No one said it was working well. There are obvious flaws and I've said I don't believe the average civilian needs to own a semiautomatic rifle. You can page back to the early discussion to see how that all sorted out. But the problem is that the legislators who claim to believe they're making a difference are allowing so many loopholes into the definition of a ban (Feinstein has already indicated she would allow some 900 different weapon types to be excluded) that it's not going to do anything.

Either do it right, or don't do it at all. That's what I am saying.

I agree on all counts. I have been promoting well thought out improvements all along, and I still do, despite the resistance I am met with here. Half measures won't do it, obviously. It has to be meaningful.

I do hope for sane and measured thinking by those who make your laws, even if some of you don't think its even possible. I'm not counting on it either, but ya gotta hope, or you have nothing.

I understood your point Chuck. I would expect there is much more going on in the background with the TSA for what we're spending on it. That doesn't mean that boarding line security is anything more than theater. My point was, why bother with airplanes when you can just set down a bunch of bomb suitcases in a very busy security line. Or take out an entire train. Or get creative and blow the hell out of a nuclear cooling station. Or simply shut down the electric grid.

Oh, great, the morons are multiplying around this issue. First Feinstein, now Obama taps Biden? Not sure how it could get any worse. Maybe he'll invite Palin to represent gun owners.

first, people dont just decide to do something like this randomly after leading a normal life for 20 years. They usually spend a significant amount of time around people who have similar thoughts, and usually make themselves known ahead of time.

then lets not waste the money on this gun talk, and spend it on mental health. At least that will have a broader benefit than just trying to preventing these violent gun incidents.

Both of you missed what I was getting at. And Pras, my neighbor could snap and kill me then take my firearms. Ban all civilian firearms and people could snap and take an assault rifle out of the back of a cop car. How do you proclaim we deal with that?

Yes, he certainly can, but I would venture to say that if guns for civilians were banned, he'd try to kill you with a knife, and you might have time to beat his ass with a bat. If he came with a gun, you might not be so lucky. And I know you're not telling me that it's just as easy to steal a gun from a cop car as it is to get it from your closet? If that is the case, we deal with it by other cops chasing the idiot who stole the gun and shooting him in the face. I don't see any reason to steal a gun from a cop car other than to harm someone. If that's the case, shooting that person in the face (by military/law enforcement) isn't really that big of a deal.

No you haven't. You've been promoting that we do "something" as if we all don't want to do anything. Yet you haven't promoted ANY ideas. Not just bad ones, you've promoted nothing. I, as a negative nancy, have promoted more gun control ideas than you. I don't want to die after I piss off some teenage wasteland and the nutjob shoots up my office. Few people enjoy carrying a concealed weapon; logistically and sometimes literally it is a pain in the ass. A safer world makes life easier for all of us.

Sure it is. Tag-team effort. One distracts the rookie while the other flips the cuffs under their ankles and grabs the weapon. Game on, start running

I can tell you for a fact, there is no way anyone is going to steal a firearm out of my house and get away clean. You think a trunk is more secure than house, with a fence, with cameras, with dogs, with safes? Plus, break into random houses hoping they have a fire arm, or break into a parked cop car you know has a weapon. Its why military are not allowed to leave their weapon in the vehicle on base. You know how easy it is to pop a trunk? Ask Yellawolf.
