550
Mike, do you think it's an increase in gun violence, or do you think it's just being talked about more now because of what happened?
Che'_Moderator
I bet your odds of being beat to death with a herring goes up if you have a herring in the house.

Commander Riker
... the great hypocrisy of the anti-gun crowd is such: //wants to make guns illegal //completely ok with sending hundreds of thousands of troops overseas to kill people

Get Some
I know they seem far fetched but i mean its atleast some sort of an idea. 1) some sort of switch on the guns registered when bought ( note this only accounts for new guns purchased) like a finger scanner that takes your print that says this is your gun and you can fire it no one else. also i know this idea is also rather out there but limiting ammo? or only being able to purchase ammo on some sort of limited base due to a ranking system? ( kinda ruins the whole ability to go to a gun range n just waste a few rounds though) but atleast limiting the gun to fire only specific rounds which are registered on a database under your name id soc. # and such.. pretty much almost any attempt to control and regulate will need a sufficient amount of time and money to put in place with marginal effectiveness at best.. but a start atleast.. Che'_Moderator
A lot of behind the scenes stuff already. The whole finger print chip thing was used in tests years ago. Couple issues with it though. I know people, cough Praz, think any idiot can spray down crowds and run up kill counts. Truth is that it is not as easy as it is made out to be. This fact is shown in the last 3 shootings that involved AR-15s. In 2 of the cases the weapon jammed. These are "military weapons of mass killing" killing according to the media. What are they doing jamming? Firearms jam in trained hands all the time. They are far from perfect. In untrained hands they jam ALOT. Adding a finger print scanner or chip multiplies these malfunctions. It is why the idea was nixed for police weapon years ago. Now they generally carry a weapon with a mag disconnect and teach the officer to drop the magazine if their weapons is at risk of being taken. As for ammo, they went to "green" ammo years ago. They do away with the mic primers and use a mercury fulminate free primer than has a very short shelf life. Normal ammo will degrade 20-25% over 100 years. The green ammo does not even go off half the time past 10 years it seems like. But then you run into the issue of reloaders, and the surplus. There are still pallets of WWII ammo for sale. There is an absolutely nutty amount of ammo out there. Average owner probably has 1000+ rounds if not more. 100 million owners... yeah. Both ideas and good ones. But only deal with new weapons. I think the pink elephant in the room is what about the ones in circulation already?

Che'_Moderator
PORTLAND - A man waving a sword delayed firefighters who arrived at a burning home in north Portland. The firefighters had to wait for police to detain the man Saturday evening.
