Correct. They didn't bring up the weapons ban once. I was actually pretty impressed with it, as it goes to the root of the problem. The situation is sad, though.

What I really found interesting was the statement that people that have nothing, just try to dominate their immediate surroundings as a last resort for some control on their life.

I just queued it in Netflix.

Yeah it's sad but guns are not the problem. If it wasn't guns it would just be knives, bats or bricks.

Like Martin and Zimmerman people don't seem to walk away. They end up turning it in to a dick measuring contest and then someone pulls out a weapon and BAM.

Agreed. One of the cases involved a kid who was beaten to death and the video of it went viral.

Our country has a violence problem... not a gun problem. Guns can be used for violence, but so can knives, baseball bats, swords, golf clubs, 2x4's etc.

Mike going off his meds over NRA collecting gun enthusiast info

What business or lobbying organization doesn't do this in the age of big data? I'd be surprised if they didn't. What they don't have is a list of every owner and the guns they own. Instead, it's a list of people who would be gun positive. In other words, likely supporters of any gun positive legislation. Meaning, people who would contribute to your PAC.

B.) How could they know what guns I have, when the state/gov doesn't even know?

Well, they're "secretly" or quietly collecting this information. It's not just people who register with the NRA, they're purchasing gun permit owner lists, encouraging instructors to send in lists of people who attend classes, etc.

But so does every retailer you deal with including Target, Walmart, etc. Everyone you do business with is collecting information about you for a variety of reasons. The big difference is that the NRA can't enforce any laws or come in and take away your weapons. Which is what the survivalists are so concerned about.

Still, "meh". I can see the irony, but there whole point was that the gov should not have access to the info.

Now I hope they are prepared to accept the consequences if their data is subpoena'ed or something along those lines because they put their supporters at risk.

Haha, I have been around. Been a very busy summer... which is good, I guess haha.

I can CCW now actually, in 33 states ;-) I'm not terribly concerned with Illinois. They are still dicking around with pretty much anything related to it, I think some of the politicians are under the impression that they can do something to stop it still.

people get all butt hurt, now its ok.

You're completely missing the point.

It isn't the data collection idea that upsets them. Maybe in a little way it does, but no where near as significant. It is the use of tax dollars by the government to collect data about it's own people to use against them. That's what people are butthurt about. It is not the role of the government. It is the role of the NRA (and Target).
