Remington 870 over a Mossberg 500 (any varient or knockoff) every time. Best selling shotgun of any type in history for a reason.

Over 10 million sold since 1950 with a milled billet reciever the whole time. The shell lifter design has always been drastically superior to the Mossberg also.

Anyways, for anyone looking for a compact shotgun to use for home defense (which means the older children and the lady need to shoot it as well) might I suggest the Rossi Tuffy .410

It's a single shot but that all that is really needed for 98% of circumstances within the home. Only 3 lbs total weight, a .410 load will cover your indoor needs, very light weight, 18.5" barrel, hardly kicks, 2.5" or 3" shells, $160ish price tag brand new. Not built for ultimate durability but it has the same tried and true design as the H&R Pardner single shots. Leangth of pull make it too short for anything else though unless you add a pad and lose your buttstock storage.

I picked one up not too long ago because Sarah couldn't handle the 870. Even with the six position stock the length of pull was a bit much, overall weight was high, her forearm was fully extended, and the kick would know her little 100 lb frame around. The Rossi she can handle just fine withthe 2.5"ers or threes. I'd suggest #5 shot for in home use as it deforms and loses the majority of it's kenetic energy after passing through a single wall even at close range. Buckshot and slug options are out there but I would save those for the zombies ;-)

at least 50 people in line, how could he be concerned for his life.

Greedy shoe companies making select sneakers needlessly exclusive paired together with consumer exuberance, desperation, and American gun culture on Saturday long enough to cost one would-be alleged robber his life. Shoppers waiting in line to purchase the latest incarnation of LeBron James’ signature shoe outside Atlanta were being harassed by a reported pickpocket until one patron decided to pull a gun out and shoot the as-yet unidentified man in what is being considered a move motivated by self-defense.

Wayne Washington at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has the story:

Witnesses told one man in line outside Wish, a clothing and shoe store on Moreland Avenue, pulled out a gun and shot the would-be robber.

The shooter then got back in line, according to
Channel 2 Action News
.

Police have not charged anyone and for now consider the shooting to be self-defense. No additional information was being released Sunday morning, said
Officer John Chafee
, an Atlanta Police Department spokesman.

Only 22 pairs of the sneakers were available, but that didn’t stop nearly 50 shoppers from lining up hours before the store opened. The shooting took place at 5:30, five hours before Wish opened its doors to LeBron’s fans.

One witness says the deceased got what he deserved. From the Journal-Constitution:

That's understandable. You don't want to lose your place in line after waiting all that time.

What could go wrong?

A.) Atlanta aka shithole

B.) How do you say it without sounding like Paula Deen? Urban crime?

C.) A state with very lax gun control laws.

D.) All lined up for a limited edition something or other.

So a horrible event happens and now. " I don't like violence."

"JIM CARREY RIPS HIS FLICK 'Kick Ass 2' is Too Violent" :idiot:

You all may want to learn what actually happened in regards to that shoeting (I'm so funny). It wasn't a pickpocket it was an ARMED badguy trying to rob the patrons. That's why it was immediately ruled on the scene to be self defense. Try getting your news from a source which doesn't spend all its time sucking Obummers ... whatever ...

There's even footage of the event with witness statements saying that our badguy pulled a gun while demanding cash. Now, our "hero" did shoot the badguy while said badguy was running away (I'm not a fan) but at the end of the day it's wrong to call our dead badguy a "pickpocket" and not mention that he himself was armed and threatening people.

hhmm, i guess he was a victim of gun violence, but all the points are valid.

Actually, he was a victim of his younger brother's poor driving skills - whether the LEO would have saved him from bleeding out is worth considering but it seems the blunt force trauma to the head and chest from a Mercedes SUV running over him likely did him in.

So apparently the forgetful attempts of air passengers to carry guns through TSA checkpoints and onto airplanes is up 30% in the last year.

Wonder how that aligns with the increase in concealed carry permits? And the increase in gun purchases over the last couple of years due to Obama?

I read TPM just so I can understand how people like Mike think but the commentary under this article is hilarious.
