What the F*&$ are you guys smoking!!!

It doesn't take much for a Mach 1 or Cobra to tear a new ---hole in any Volvo..including mine.

Thats why they always laugh at Volvo's when it tows up to the tree....its better to shut up and lay low!

RESPECT all cars...especially V8's

... and as far as Mustangs only good at the strip...How many Manufacturers Cups do you think Mustangs have won in SCCA...24 hrs of Daytona...IMSA...compared to Volvo?

Rustangs...thats stupid....I'll take a Mach or Cobra,or Gt over any Volvo on this forum..any day any time..any where.

No your limits!

Good run Joseph.  For the record mustangs are total crap.  They are great track cars but crap at everything else.  So IMHO if you have a race built one sweet.  If your driving it down the road, keep saving up for a real car.

Agreed. Fast but crap. Volvo's are the total package. Try walking out of a wrecked stang.

For those low on brain cells let me repeat:

I took it for granted that the volvospeed members would have some intelligence to detect sarcasm and various forms of figurative speech, I guess I was wrong...

I just added 2 mustangs being pushed off because I thought it was amusing. Nothing against them, if 5 civics, SRT's, WRX, Camaros broke down in one night I would have had their clips instead of the stangs.

And the question is what are you smoking to get so worked up about something so trivial.

thanks guys for the positive input :) I'm a bit tired right now and bogged down with things to do (class tomorrow I haven't done work for yet) so I'll be sure to get the timeslip up when I get a chance.

and yea... Ben... I remember that fully built Mustang we had to push down a road to get it moving after it DIED at a street light just sitting there. The starter cables came loose <_< can you say quality? :monkey:

The best of all is that any Mustang sold off the showroom-floor with a V8 and manual since 1999 will run just as quick if not quicker than all but 3 cars on Volvospeed's official 1/4-mile list, properly driven. :)

One question though... Why not 98 and down?

Anyways I agree with charles. And when I see a stock v6 mustang no matter the year I puke all over. Oh yeah and the older gt v8's blow too. So if you are going to do something with a mustang it better be a dedicated track car, go big or go home.

One other thing...

You say that like your 16psi volvo is the fastest volvo out their?

It was the switch to the 2 valve motor made in 99, made more power, 35-40 more hp, iirc, than the previously used 4 valve motors

We all know that Mustangs have the potential to be monsters, hell my next car might be a 95 Cobra (last year of the 5.0) and I'll definitely twin turbo her. Yet, I find it badass that a Volvo can keep up with an E46 M3 almost all the way down the track, while the relatively real track cars, i.e. 03 Cobras and a S281 are pushed off the track. Sure, say the Volvo doesn't make enough power to break, but hey... what good does it do you to make 600+WHP if you can't even launch it without snapping your axle... hope you enjoy pushing

Joseph,

I can appreciate some quality stuff talking now and then, but now you're just making yourself look stupid. I assure you that the "fully built Mustang"'s stalling had nothing to do with the starter cable. In fact, you can remove that cable, the starter, and even the battery while the car is running and it won't change a thing. It sounds to me like your buddy stalled his car somehow and then couldn't restart it because the cable wasn't fully connected. I'm sure this cable was disconnected and reconnected at least once during the build of this "fully built" car. You don't need me to tell you that a mechanic's incompetence doesn't reflect the original build quality of a modified car..

Going fast costs money, and the less money you spend to go faster, the more your car's reliability depreciates. Modified cars break, you know that as well as I do. When you push the limits for that last tenth, you eventually find the limits. Such is racing..

PS: The SOHC 4.6L was introduced in the Mustangs in 1996.

PSS: If you want to show me how reliable and fast? your Volvo is, feel free to give me a ring. If you want to talk stuff, you'd better get it all over with now, while my motor is on the stand and the transmission is under my workbench. Even when I'm making 600 RWHP, I'd be more than happy to line up next to your Volvo. If you think I'm going to break something and have to push my car off the track, I'll bring it in street trim on pump gas and spin through 3rd gear for you. Too bad that would still put me about 2 full seconds out of your league..
