Midnight Caller
You have some "official" bins in Motronic suite. I'm referring to rev modifications, rev6, rev7, etc, if they will ever come out. The stock bins are already available to everyone by downloading Motrionic suite, so I see no reason to also host those
Midnight Caller
Well, got rid of the knocking between 3000 and 4000rpm, but now, from 4400rpm to 5200rpm, I have as much as 24 degrees in XFALMIT ! (6 degrees retard on one of the cylinders) at load 8.8 and injectors at 81%. I retarded the timing even more, to 11.25 - 12.25 - 18.00 degrees between 4200 and 5400rpm. Previous values were 12.00 - 15.75 - 21.00. Talking about the last line in the ignition map, at 8.02 load Log attached (hopefully someone takes a peek) Thanks ! https://www.dropbox.com/s/1iqmmi5nc7lvx8j/centura.csv?dl=
Stevo11811
I took a quick peek, ill look more in a bit, but it looks decent, a few true knocks, High injector duty cycle, what injectors are you on? a fuel pump might be in order for you. As Steve said, if you're that close to saturation with the injectors, it's gonna be difficult to not have to pull more timing when what would be better would be to add fuel. Midnight Caller
One small thing I forgot to mention. Until today I was running on BKR6E-IX plugs. As far as I've read, unappropriate plugs could alsoo lead to detonation, and according to NGK Part Finder, I should have used BRK7E-IX (colder). Well, to be even more certain, I've installed OEM turbo plugs today, as all of you have been appraising them as the best for turbos. Thanks Hussein & Stevo, but according to my AEM UEGO AFR gauge, AFR goes as rich as 10.4-10.9 at 5500rpm, so my guess fueling isn't the issue... As for the log, I preferred to put ALL the log here because I don't know what the cricital parameters would be for analyzing (apart from sample #, speed, time, and another 1-2 parameters) So as we speak: - Cam timing is ok (checked) - No vac leaks - No boost leaks and no overboost, wastegate preload at 1.8-2.0 PSI - 95RON fuel - Pulled 3 degrees more in the 4200-5400 region - Changed spark plugs with OEM - Disabled adaptive knock detection (raising the temp threshold) - Fueling is richer than Bill Gates (on WHITE injectors now) If I still have knocking I think I'll buy 2 liters of gas and burn it to kingdom come )) It's not acceptable (I think) to have that kind of knock retard at only 11PSI. How the heck did you GLT guys reach 15-17PSI without retarding ignition to almost zero ?
Turboforslund
Hi, Increased exhaust pressure might cause this. Pressure pre-cat at fulload might be high if the cat is blocking the flow somehow. Only a guess but take it as a input if you planning to investigate hardware issues. // Turboforslund
Midnight Caller
Ok, sorry, continuing the list: - Stock manifold changed to Japanifold - Stock downpipe - 200CPS race cat - 3" catback So unfortunately this is out of the question too If you will look at the log, you will see knocking ceases after 5200rpm, which means backpressure is not the culprit, nor EGT, even if injectors are over 100% ! Piet
You need to install a 3" downpipe. A 3" downpipe over stock would have been more usefull then a 3" catback for lowering backpressure.
Simply Volvo
Ok, sorry, continuing the list: - Stock manifold changed to Japanifold - Stock downpipe - 200CPS race cat - 3" catback So unfortunately this is out of the question too If you will look at the log, you will see knocking ceases after 5200rpm, which means backpressure is not the culprit, nor EGT, even if injectors are over 100% ! How does fueling look before the knock starts to occur? That rich spot where you getting knock, may just be because of the knock fuel enrichment... Its possible your are running lean before the rich spot, causing knock, which in term will richen up the fuel mixture causing it to be very rich. Honestly too rich isnt good either itll be just as counter productive, the excess fuel may be combusting after the exhaust valve causing high egt. tjwasiak
(...) So as we speak:- 95RON fuel- Pulled 3 degrees more in the 4200-5400 regionUse better fuel as you have higher CR... 98RON or even more (if something like Shell V-Power Racing 100RON is available). Midnight Caller
I will try to do another pull today and keep an eye on the AFR. It's really hard without logging it and I wouldn't want to open the ECU for the moment as I'm not very handy with small tools yet But if I recall correctly, AFR was under 13.5 starting from 3000rpm at WOT and only kept going richer from there on. I can use higher octane fuel, yes, but as you in the US (with 92RON) managed it, why wouln't I on 95RON ? Don't get me wrong please, your advice is helpful, but I want to get on the bottom of this, not band-aid it...
tjwasiak
If I were you I would take someone with you who can record your AFR gauge. Timing might be not perfect but still it should give you better idea about your AFR.
