The loud pipes don't help argument is only valid if:1. Sound doesn't travel faster forward than the motorcycle. Last I checked motorcycles don't break the sound barrier. So the whole exhaust facing backwards argument is ignorance.2. We lived in a great world where people checked their mirrors and weren't day dreaming while driving.Ambulances and horns all point forward...Re 1. I didn't mean to say that zero sound can be heard. I meant that the majority of it is not heard until after the bike passes. Sound is directional, and I'm sure it's a topic you're more familiar with than I.And while we're not arguing specific scenarios, and I don't want to, Windows down parked in traffic, I'll concede you might have some ability to hear the bike coming. I'm only really annoyed by those with loud bikes who tune it so poorly that they feel the need to rev it at a stop light to "keep it alive." I never understood why someone has to get on one of those things and rev the engine. They look like nuts. They don't like normal, sane people. And let's assume windows up. I hear harleys coming up behind me before I see them about half the time, while at cruising speed (75) over my somewhat droning exhaust, windows up, aircon and music. Because the noise is projected behind the cyclist, it's really not much of a safety issue for them. It just punishes regular citizens at all hours of the day. The problem with noise, is you can't do much, other than plug your ears, to avoid noise (unwanted sound). Visually, if we see something offensive, we can turn our heads or close our eyes. The motorcycle goons have ruined lives and vacations for decades. The only opinion that I have on motorcyclists that have extremely loud pipes is that they are quite possibly the worst people ever to walk this planet Earth. So many people must suffer, only for their childish vanity. What other Human has been able to do that in the entire history of Mankind? They are truly a menace to society. And yes, like you said, these goons interupt the naps of infants and young children. Parents have enough problems, they don't need this added problem. But the goons have only one thing in mind; their image. They are incapable of empathy (caring for others). It's an alien thought to them. Perhaps even worse is the fact that law enforcement will not do their own jobs regarding this problem. They won't help us. Cops are traitors to the very citizens that they have sworn to help. And it goes on up to their superiors. Who is in bed with harley davidson? It always comes down to money. It's always something and the innocent, honorable citizen always gets abused by corruption and vile people. As I write this, it sounds as if an entire harley convention were letting out.
