RI-T5
So I recently did a pretty good 19t setup on a 2.3L I had laying around and had the pleasure of driving it for about a month until I over-rev'd it in and spun a rod bearing in a snow storm. I said screw it, just build another engine it should be tit. Nope. Bought the ASC H-Beam rods and mic'd the engine up. Crank was in spec, but the cylinders were like fawking cones (200k miles). Basically according to Measurements I'd need .40mm OS pistons to make up for the taper after machining. No this is not the same engine that grenaded. But apparently Volvo discontinued the .40mm OS2 pistons? fml right. Just wondering if anyone knew of a source I could get these pistons from without spending millions on forged. Secondly, they apparently discontinued the main bearings for the 2.3L which blows because they are coded. Anybody know where I can source this stuff? The guy I spoke to at Tasca parts was kind of a blow job and didnt really care to help me out so who knows if this sh1t is still laying around in a warehouse somewhere Any help would be appreciated I miss driving this turd..lol
B Mac
A few members here have had good luck with Toga HP main and rod bearings. I spent $350 on Volvo oem bearings which I will never ever do again.
Tightmopedman9
You may have already thought of this, but why not swap in a RN engine?
RI-T5
I've milled a bunch of things over but no matter how I work it I already have the rods and will have to rip the engine down regardless so why not just do it right and freshen it back to factory with the added insurance of rods. Already had the crank polished too. I'll probably never revamp the setup just because I want it to be reliable for once. The engine in question is actually the original to my car and I suppose has some bogus sentimental value being my first car. I'll have to look into Toga I've heard of some people doing that But...what about pistons? Already looked into forged. Fawk spenging another g-note that isnt necesarry for what I'm running and my intentions. FCP carried the OEM (PN-272153) OS2 pistons I need for like 70$ apiece with wrist pins and rings but they only have 2 left and are discontinued
lookforjoe
Toga bearings work fine, and no coding issues. Mahle pistons come with rings, should be able to get those in 2nd OS

Mahle pistons come with rings, should be able to get those in 2nd OS Hussein these are exactly the pistons I'm looking for but they seem to have been discontinued by Volvo
Volvo5.0
I just ordered a set of mains from http://www.rmeuropean.com/volvo-parts.aspx#Category and pistons from https://www.raceeng.com/p-16520-wiseco-pistonvolvo-850t-23-20v-815mm-851-kit.aspx
RI-T5
Hmm. That's not a bad price for forged at all. I suppose that will be my last resort if all else fails.
