Flyby
I think they should release a new line of cars, geared towards the younger crowd... I know that they stress saftey, so this is a must. But put a modest engine in it, not too powerful but have it be easily moddable. Make it available in a 2 and 4 door configuration. Make it REAR WHEEL DRIVE and MANUAL optional. Make it somewhat affordable (starting at 27k or something). Make it in the T-5R Yellow, Black and the R Red, and the S60R Blue. What do you guys think? Do you think IPD would be with us on this one? Perhaps we can appeal to volvo and show them there is a market out there.... they just need to take a chance and hope that some of the BMW/Audi/VW guys will come over to Volvo. If it works for them, they will have created a customer base that will continue to buy Volvos for the rest of their lives...If you think about it, the only reason I drive a Volvo now is because I had a Fun 240 (RWD) in highschool.... However, kids now don't really have the option of that unless they want to get a 20 year old car.... "So Volvo, release a RWD sporty car geared towards the people that will be your customer base in the years to come! Think of the Future of Volvo!" theunderlord
I think they should definitely make super souped up version of the C70... maybe something to compete (or attempt to) with mercedes AMG cars and the Bimmer 3 series.. The new S50 and V50 is volvo's attempt to capture the youth market, and I think they're succeeding... just not the tuner kid market..

Two big reasons for the change to FWD:1. It's cheaper2. Better for snowI certainly think Volvo is going after the younger crowd with the new S40 T5's. I can't see Volvo producing any more RWD cars though. I think they will continue to produce AWD cars though, hopefully. Volvo has always put safety before fun and I think they'll continue to do so. Patrick.
it does seem as though Volvo is putting safety before fun, or at least mostly, but a RWD 6 speed w/ a big turbo certainly would sharpen up their image a bit IMO
Flyby
agreed...←What is this ish??? PEOPLE COME ON!!! It's about what you want to see Volvo do! Not what their geigh arse 80 year old execs think is best for the company! I don't understand... first of all, why FWD is safer if you know how to drive RWD right.Edit: AND... all car companies today are trying to make driving mindless (hydraulic clutches that feel like you are stepping on a marshmallow, steering that adjusts to the corner radius (BMW) FWD, because it is "safer" only for people who can't drive in the first place) They are taking all the fun out of driving! ToxicLemonade
volvo should never bring back the t5-r yellow. that would be like a bad movie sequel. dont mess with perfection!
AutoX47
all car companies today are trying to make driving mindless (hydraulic clutches that feel like you are stepping on a marshmallow←hmm yeah not sure about you but I like my cars with hydraulic clutches ... because I've never had the luxury to own a car old enough (like pre-war) or poor built enough to have a cable clutch. Not sure what history in motoring you have but maybe you look 50 years older than you do in your signature! I do agree that all the needless electronics and driving assists are silly
EricF
volvo should never bring back the t5-r yellow. that would be like a bad movie sequel. dont mess with perfection!←There's an S40 1.9T across the street in T5-R yellow... I want to steal their paint. As far as this thread is concerned, Volvo's been done with RWD since what, 98?Cab-forward design for space, better in snow, cheaper, etc...I guess they could possibly release a real sports car. It would be cool to see something along the lines of a new P1800. 5 speed RWD, turbo and non-turbo engines from the modular series. That might get middle age crisis guys too The P1800 is their only car that's actually really been considered a sports car though... Just had soft springs. Then I test drove a '04 Audi GTI near the end of the summer.... You push in the clutch shift, and let it out... you can Darn near side step it and not even get a jerk. Same thing in my friends '04 S2000, except it has more power, but still, even if you let out the clutch really fast, you can't really get into trouble. I just HATE not being able to feel the clutch engage... I love being able to (or try to, since we have stock pedals) heel and toe in the porsche on chuckanut, something I could never do in a new car, because there just isn't enough feel. BREAKAWAY
i would love to see a c80, coup with the v8 super charged but awd or rwd only not fwd. i think that would bring alot of intrest to volvo on the performance side.ohhh yea also do away with all the stuff electronics, like all the computers. just one big head ach. every time somone wants to just have to hit a button to activate somthing u don't think about all the control units it takes to make it happen. which when one goes bad ur talking a few hundred to a thousand dollars. so my opinion would be to simplify and performance and ofcorse safety.THANKS DANNY
