Ghettobird
I want to drift a 240, but don't know what the best year to get it had anyone been involved in any performance B230F Builds or anything? Cheers!
BEJinFBK
Find one with a nice clean body and pretty paint. Any year will do. Then get a small block V-8. Done.
okoye
Get any body year 240 they're all nice just check for rust. As far as getting a good motor for it you can get a b230ft from a 91+ i believe turbo motor with the thicker 13mm rods. You can find these in 940 turbos, 960 turbo not sure if they have those in your market.
blkaplan
setting up a Drifting 240 is pretty easy, You just need to get it setup correctly, I have supplied many drift 240s with their setups and the owners have been really happy. This is Cody Woods wagon, you can find his build thread here ->http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=126475 You will want a lot of torque and good throttle response. So if you take a 90+ block with the thicker rods and high compression (9.8:1) pistons and install a smallish turbo (td04hl) you should have the response and torque to get it done. That will be a good starter motor. If you want to be really fast and competitive you will need to build a motor because the good drift cars are all making above 350 hp usually.http://jalopnik.com/5968213/the-v8lvo-battle-wagon-drift-missile-is-back http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTzxh9uD938&feature=player_embedded

okoye
I'm aware of that as i've personally owned one. it is vin'd as a 960. He's in austrailia so it would be reffered to as a 960 turbo most likely.
James A Sousa
I suggest that you get a 744 TI. With a set of snow tires, I could drift our stock '90 744 TI around a 1/4 mile rotary on a dry road. It had 230K on it at the time.

The people who do it right are sliding with big sticky tires and have tons of corner speed and grip... even though they are in the middle of a drift. 740s aren't as cheap or easy to setup for drifting as a 240 is
AdirondackVolvo
Im Sliding a 92 245 with a 93 B230F with a B cam. Does quite well for our small drift courses at school. I'd like to go +T soon though to hit up driftindy events, or Drift Movement events back home in New York.

blkaplan
Not much is needed, just engine and trans mounts and the obvious stuff like an ECU to run the LS. Heres a thread detailing a LSX install http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=106802
