Zimmerman V. Florida

I never questioned whether you were against the death penalty. I question whether you really believe it has any deterrent effect or if you think it simply provides retribution.

If the penalty for speeding was death would you ever speed?

An eye for an eye and eventually the whole world is blind. Tell me, what exactly did Trayvon do that warranted his execution? Or are we moving into the realm of thoughtcrime because it's not about where he was then but instead a pre-determined path he would eventually take?

And PreCrime?

I said if he attacked GZ. If the story of the little boy just wanting some skittles and some tea is true he did nothing wrong and GZ should go to jail.

Nice to see Godwin's law so quickly called into play. We've gone from a petty thief and small time alleged drug dealer to Hitler and Charles Manson. BOOM!

You know who you guys sound like?

How many do you think you need to kill before your problem is solved? Especially since that path fails to consider the root causes,

First, You do know that Muslims are extremely pro gun control and anti second amendment as stated by the ISNA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Society_of_North_America

Second, Muslims spread in the USA and black criminals basically go hand in hand.

Third, I don't think personal defense is going to solve all the issues but turning people into victims certainly isn't going to solve any crime issues. Just look at where mass murders target and you get your answer. You would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to understand they go after the unarmed.

Pr-determined path? He was already on that path of being a worthless thug just look at the content of his character for that. He wanted to be a thug and attacked the victim but instead of being a victim Zimmerman had the right to self defense. He executed his right to self defense and now we have a worthless thug no longer in this world. I am sure you will tell me all about how many people walking the thug path like Trayvon end up as perfect members of society.

Fishey, I know more than one who has turned a leaf and become a productive member of society. I've worked with some of them. Each day you make a choice. And every day a young man dies, he loses a chance to make a choice different than the one he made the day before.

You clearly believe he deserved to die. Not just because he got in a fight with Zimmerman, but because he was a wannabe thug. All it takes is one person to make a difference and help lift others out of a life of bad choices. Especially when they are young and impressionable and their life is not yet set in stone.

How are you going to spend your life?

And if you haven't noticed, I'm not exactly anti-gun. Card carrying NRA member right here. ;)

Oh, and while the ISNA might purport to speak for all Muslims in the US, go ask the next Muslim you meet and see what their thoughts are on it and the Wahabbist philosophy it endorses. No single organization speaks for Islam and the vast majority of American Muslims reject the ISNA. It is a diverse faith.

If you are old enough to wonder the streets by yourself, you should be old enough to act like an adult. If TM was such a child he should not have been unsupervised. Thats probably half his problem, but you know as well as I do a 17yo should know better. Old enough to walk the streets, old enough to die in them.

That sums it up rather well.

Respect is at an all-time low when it comes to our younger generation, they just say what they want and act how they want. When there are consequences these kids were suddenly angels who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. The entire problem is multi-faceted, the same media that portrays GZ as a villiain is the same media that glorifies thuggish behavior.

there's no indication he actually intended to kill Zimmerman even if he did declare, "You're going to die...."

Really, so if you were attacked by a person, beating your head on the pavement screaming "your going to die", You would just roll over and say "silly kids"? No I think you would be shitting your pants praying that he didnt.

But.. If GZ hadn't stirred the pot, he wouldn't of been getting his ass kicked by a. Kid 50lbs lighter and smaller

Smaller? You are liberalizing the facts again. Check his death records for his height. Heavier means badder? Ever seen Royce Gracie?

Gary

I would argue he didn't get his ass kicked.

I agree. I am thinking that the guy who's heart stopped probably lost. Sounds insensitive but if I or someone I love is assailed by someone that even whispers that they want to kill, I am going to do my best to do the killing first. I will weep and reflect later.
