optimus prime
Ive got some grinding on sounds happening when I take turns at 25+ mph. It only happens when I turn left. I just did the control arms inner and outer tie rods I checked the cv boots while I was down there and they seemed to be intact. Brake pads were done about 1 year ago. Ideas? Brad850
Wheel bearing... when you turn left there's more force pushing at it. Had the same symptoms.
optimus prime
which side though? would it be passenger side for the left turn grind because its getting more weight? or am I thinking of that backwards?
optimus prime
im still tracking down all my clunks and rattles on this car does the wheel bearing cause any clunks when going over bumps when its gone bad or is it just grinding on turns? trs80
If a wheel bearing is clunking its extremely bad (missing bearings). A bad wheel bearing will squeal/squeak when an increased load is placed on it. Sounds like the front left is the culprit. If you want to be sure, stand outside the vehicle while someone else makes left turn circles. You should hear which side the noise is coming from that way. Yellow95
Make sure your axle isnt popping out also. It can and does happen.
Brad850
Yea making a left turn would put more load on the left wheel... I think. Open your windows.. if it's just one you should be able to tell. Mine was a distinct rusty metal on rusty metal grinding kinda noise coming from the drivers side. Gary what would cause your axle to pop out? A bad circlip in the drivers side?
Zappo
Left turn puts more load on the RIGHT wheel, not the left one. It will be the right wheel bearing.

Yellow95
Gary what would cause your axle to pop out? A bad circlip in the drivers side? Yep, On mine the circlip engaged enough that it felt like it was set but would slide out on left hand turns. It was scarey when I realized I had been driving like that for a month. It was scarey when I realized I had been driving like that for a month. I had mine come out on my Integra years ago. Nothing like literally kicking an axle back in on the side of the road. I think I was on I-85.
optimus prime
its not really a grinding sound. its more of a rusty metal rubbing sound .
