1998 Volvo S70 T5M (Factory Manual)

100,800 Original Miles

Black on Black

About the car:

I am the second owner. I purchased the car in Texas during Summer 2007 with 65k on the clock at the time. With the exception of the first winter of my ownership, I have stored the car in a garage during the winter months ever since, i.e. December to April. Therefore, I’ve only used the car 7-8 months out of the year for the last 4-5 years. This past winter, the car was stored from beginning of December until the beginning of May.

When I first came across this car, I immediately fell in love with it, because it was exactly what I was looking for: 98 T5M, one owner, clean, black on black and low miles. So I flew 1200 miles to pick it up. The modding began shortly after that with one thing at a time. Most of the modding was completed after 2-3 years of my ownership, until I reached a point where I was content (not an easy state to achieve when modding cars lol). Since that time, I’ve just been enjoying the car the way it is now, with the exception of little things done here and there.

My goals with this car were to make it look nice and clean, have decent power and decent handling. I didn’t want to go overboard with this car, so my mods were carefully selected.

The car looks amazing. Sometimes when I park next to black cars that are only a few years old, I stand in between the cars to compare the paint, and many times, the paint looks just as good as the car next to me, sometimes even better. I wash it regularly and detail it every season.

This car gets countless compliments everywhere. Some of the more memorable compliments came from Border Services Agents, Police Officers as well as others. It’s very common to get a “thumbs-up” or a “nice car” comment from a car sitting next to me at a light.

Just a couple of days ago when I was crossing into US from Canada…the two guards who were at the booth asked for my passport, and then they quickly started asking about the car, and it went something like this:

Guard 1: Hey check this car out.

Guard 2: What year is this car?
Me: It’s a 1998.

*Shocked look on both of the guards’ faces*

Guard 2: Wow that is unbelievable. The car looks completely restored.

Me: No, it’s still got the original paint.

Enough about that, lol.

I have never abused the car and I drive it like a grandma 95% of the time. I do step on it once in a while when I’m getting onto the onramp. ;)

Below is a list of the mods on the car:

Performance:
18T
S60R Exhaust Manifold
OBX Exhaust - 3" DP -> 3" Cat -> 2.5" catback (professionally installed incl. cutting/welding the tip back so it’s flush with the rear bumper cutout – Original OBX design makes it stick out a bit)

Koni FSD Shocks & Struts
1.75" IPD Springs
OMP Strut Bar
Snabb Short-Throw Kit
CX Racing Front Mount Intercooler

I just installed a brand new set of 215/45/17 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires on the car. (Jun.25, 2013 @ 100,765 miles to be exact)

Miscellaneous things done to the car:

- Squeaky and cracked dash replaced with a used one in excellent condition that had no cracks (didn’t even have the common crack by the alarm led)

- The power locks in 3 of the 4 doors don’t always function properly when it’s really hot and humid outside. I’ve ordered 3 replacement motors from Reid (BTownVolvo) and this issue will be fixed by the end of the weekend.

- Replaced my broken sunroof which would only vent and not retract. Replaced it with one that fully functions.

Other miscellaneous things:

Oil and filter changes done every 3,000 miles or less with Mobil 1 oil Mann oil filters.

The car comes with a set of regular carpet floor mats, as well as all-weather rubber mats & a plastic trunk mat.

I haven’t done any dyno pulls with the 18T + R manifold combo, but my estimates put the car at around 280whp, due to my trap speed in the ¼ mile, which was 105.1mph.

I did however get a dyno pull when I had my 16T and it put down 250whp at the time. When I had my 16T, it trapped 101.3mph in the ¼ mile.

So, these are my estimates and I’ve cross-checked it with some online ¼ mile/whp calculators online.

Trap speed vs. WHP

Stock: 97.5mph = 215whp (manual)
16T: 101.3mph = 250whp

18T: 105.1mph = 280whp

There are NO warning lights on the dash. There car doesn’t have any leaks…it is nice and dry underneath.

The car is located in Windsor, Ontario. Since it was originally a US car, the car can easily be imported into the US.

Reason for selling:

Pains of growing up are in full effect. Other aspects of life are becoming more of a priority. Therefore, I need to sell my T5M in order to put a down payment on my first house.

I will miss this car dearly. In the mean time, you might see me at a Volvo meet driving a 1999 Acura 1.6EL lol. Lame? I know. Just basic transportation for now.

Focus will be on the house at the moment, but I hope to get back into the Volvo scene sometime within the next 3-5 years. We’ll see.

Price: $7,900

I am willing to negotiate with serious buyers only. If you’re serious, PM me or send me an email: albosnawi@gmail.com and we’ll talk.

I can arrange for shipping or I can personally drive the car to the buyer within a day’s drive at buyer’s expense.

Those who have seen the car in person have said that it is one of the cleanest S70s around. I’ll let the pics speak for themselves.

Why should you buy this car?

Because it is extremely hard to find another one that is this clean, has low miles, and has been treated like a baby. It is a factory manual black on black T5M. The car doesn’t need anything. Just turn the key and drive off.

If you’re looking for an S70 T5M that has been tastefully modded with thousands and thousands of dollars invested, one that looks better and performs better than a stock S70, and is also fun to drive, then this car is for you.

I have tried my best to lay out everything there is to know about the car. Know that you’re getting a car that should have no issues reaching 300,000+ miles on it.

The one thing that I really love about this car is that (at least where I live), there aren’t many of these around, let alone ones that have been modded. So when you take the car for a drive around town, it gets a lot of attention because it is nicely put together and it isn’t common to see.

And now for the photos. All of these photos were taken this evening, just hours ago.

Just went in for an oil change today (Mobil 1 Synthetic).

There has been some interest, but officially the car is still available.

In all honesty, every time I've put it up for sale, I've done so with half of me not wanting to sell it, hence I wasn't aggressive in trying to sell it.

It's a little different this time around because the need for money is stronger than my desire to keep the car.

Trade for some Ćevapi and Eurocrem?

Bump for probably the cleanest S70 T5M for sale in North America right now.

There's been some interest, but from people who are a bit far and aren't able to travel.

This car is definitely worth travelling for.

The price is negotiable, especially for someone who's interested but lives far away (in order to cover some of the travelling costs).
