Kevin.
FWIW your car lost this weekend at the show in the S/C class to a 100% stock '01 C70 coupe with a trailer hitch. How is that even legal

TBM
I had a 2003 V70 T5 before the 850R. At least do the washer mod and make a strut bar out of the factory brace. Always wish I did a downpipe and tune with it. Which mod is that? Look what I saw over the past weekend. Please man! Did you really have to post a pic of it? You are killing me. TBM
How well do HIDs work in the P2 V70 stock headlights?
Piston Slapper
About as well as HIDs work in any headlights designed for incandescent bulbs... shitty, blindingly, dangerously and illegally.

TBM
I heard somewhere that if they're aimed properly, the stock headlights on these cars do quite well with HIDs. Didn't later models of these cars come with HIDs from the factory inside pretty much the same headlight assembly?

woah4
We did an HID conversion on my dad's 02 v70t5, lights are so much better than stock it isn't even funny. If you aim them right and don't choose some stupid colour for the bulbs, you will have no problems. Never been highbeamed in my 850 or my dads car, because I use 6000k HID's which are similar in colour to any new Volvo acura etc. and I take the time to aim them properly. If you do too they will be great, I swear they have saved my life more than once. just my 2 cents -Billy

woah4
Did your dad get the bulb out warning message on the dash? Work-around? Yes, we simply used canbus ballasts and the problem was gone. im sure you could use a standard ballast and some sort of resistor but for what they cost its just easier to get canbus ballasts
Member
Which mod is that? Ipd and viva sell expensive strut inserts that turn the brace into a strut bar but you can do it for a fraction of the price by going to the hardware store. Don't do HIDs, I had good halogen bulbs and they were much better than HIDs would have been.We did an HID conversion on my dad's 02 v70t5, lights are so much better than stock it isn't even funny. RZT5
Your T5M is still the cleanest I've ever seen! Sad to see it go to a new owner But glad you are still in the Volvo community! my $.02 on HIDs: HIDs in halogen housings never work ideally. Also, the color temp has absolutely no effect on glare, I don't know how anyone thinks that changing a wavelength would have any effect on how optics function... I would try to find a set of OEM bi-xenon projectors
woah4
Depending on the supplier of the HID's, the colour may be different. 4350k would be put white, and 6000k would have a slight tinge of blue, and with some sellers that is true. However from most company's I have bought from, the 6000k is similar to the 4350, and an 8000k rated bulb is similar to what you would expect from a 6000k. I use 6000k because of this, the supplier I use has 6000k bulbs which are essentially a 4350. Also, I never said the colour will effect the glare, my point was that it is much less likely to get you in trouble due to it appearing factory, rather than having like a 12000k bulb that is not only useless but also stands out like a sore thumb. I have tried all sorts of halogen bulbs, and not one has ever been half as bright as HID's... Sure some people don't like them but for my own personal safety I would not be without them

Probabaly very hard to find and $$$.
