eriknorcal
except for the VT...it will not sound good at the rear. All these mufflers are straight through designs, they will be loud. That resonator that your hell bent on installing will need to fit in the straight part of the tunnel or you will not have room for the other mufflers. I just made a turbo downpipe for Eriknorcal for his 18T. He had the cat back done at a shop. The muffler is the Dynomax VT in the suitcase spot. You might want to PM him and have him send you a sound clip. The dynomax VT sounds amazing with no cat, and no resonator; and that's full 3" turbo back.. IMO obviously It's not too drone-y, and perfectly loud and throaty. If your going catless something that will prevent drone is a must IMO, because it sounds like you don't want something super loud. If you mount your muffler where the suitcase resided, you can always add something else to change the tone near the exit. I'll post some pics and vids of my setup when I get home later today. FINN
I have to say it sounds like every other exhaust I have ever installed or seen on a Volvo I5 except its quiet by comparison except at idle where it sounds about the same but at WOT much quieter. Loved the borla race muffler you guys put on Chris' 850.

Max Meade
Alright! That sounded excellent, Eriknorcal! That's a setup I could see having... Thanks, Max
z31jaime
Not to thread jack but what be suggested for a dual outlet, i want to retain the duals on my car but swap mufflers (magnaflows most likely) and probably a true Y pipe This is what I did. 95 850, with XC rear bumper... local shop charged me $250 to do all the install work. mandrill bent and all. DP installed magnaflow installed in OEM location... I work for the Local Police Department so going catless was a NO NO being that I would be parking in the same parking lot as all the cop cars... 3" all the way to the muffler then 2.5" From the muffler back. After the rear axel, it has a true Y and comes out.... simple. OP... I like my set up. A lot of the local FL guys are MUCH louder than my car. Which is not what I wanted. I wanted it to sound regular but have a nice note to it when I got on it. Which worked out exactly how I planned it.
eriknorcal
Alright! That sounded excellent, Eriknorcal! That's a setup I could see having... Thanks, Max Glad I could help! If you decide to go catless, keep in mind it is STINKY! You'll get used to it, but the fuel smell can be strong.
GLTurboguy
My setup is pretty nice. No drone (for the most part) I listen to sports talk radio all the time and I never have to turn the volume up too loud. I have a 3" custom turbo back that goes like this. Flex pipe to magnaflow race cat, magnaflow resonator right after the cat and straight pipe all the way to the back from there. It sounds like this

cruzer555
Yeah I'm not totally down to go the OBX route... WHY?! It's literally perfect: - Cheapest, works out to be $200-250 all totaled (once you reclaim the money scrapping cat and selling DP) - Ready built system no questions about custom work - Stainless that is proven to last years on cars like mine and still look brand new when driven in winter! - FULL TURBO BACK This: I'm looking for something that is quiet most of the time, except when I rip it up and step on it a bit where I would want it a bit louder! Is EXACTLY what you can expect from OBX! I'd never go custom with such an inexpensive and well proven system on the market that performs and sounds great, but if you wanna go crazy go ahead... If you decide to go catless, keep in mind it is STINKY! You'll get used to it, but the fuel smell can be strong. WRONG. You'll never smell it except for backing up with the windows down. If you smell it more your car is running horribly rich! A properly tuned car will barely smell catless, and it will smell good. it's the smell of motorsports! We "petrolheads" should love it!!! cruzer555
Yeeeah either your car was really broken or you have the nose of a little girl... My mother can ride in my car and not smell a thing, come on!

cruzer555
I'll let Lucky know that he is producing horribly rich, not properly tuned, tunes. I smell corn. OR it's you! Cause clearly thats not the case... Come on man your seriously bothered by catless smell during daily driving? You shouldn't even be able to notice it 99% of the time and that 1% that you do should be while stationary or reversing with the windows down And most importantly on that rare occasion you smell it IT SMELLS GREAT! (to a car enthusiast at least... and your sig pic is at a racetrack doesn't it remind you of motorsports fun?)
