Keith Taylor comments = I am the original owner of a 1985 740 Turbo with nearly 300,000 miles on the odometer. While this is certainly not a late-model vehicle, I have maintained it very well since new. I did, however have the misfortune of a breakdown due to a failed clutch slave cylinder in downtown Los Angeles on a Sunday afternoon and I had the car towed to Volvo of Cerritos as it was roughly midway between where I live (in Orange County) and where the vehicle failed. In all honesty, I feel I am being rather generous to rate my experience with this dealer as a "4"; however, I will allow for the fact that my vehicle appears to have been competently serviced as a plus in the final balance. Nevertheless, I was charged $1500.00 for a new clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder, and rear main bearing which certainly seems to be EXTREMELY out of line based on the cost of previous clutch jobs even at other dealerships. My last clutch job was performed at Irvine Volvo and was less than $600.00 total. While this did not include a slave cylinder (as it was not required), it is difficult for me to rationalize my misfortune costing me $1500.00 even allowing for inflation!! The day will come when I must replace my trusty old 740 Turbo and it will most likely be with another new Volvo. However, I would be loathe to begin a serious relationship with Volvo of Cerritos as I truly fear I could never afford the exhorbitant cost of their service.

I don't recommend Volvo of Cerritos at all, except to avoid it. Out of the three within my area, Volvo of Orange, Volvo of Irvine, and Volvo of Cerritos, this one has always given me unpleasant experiences.

The first obstacle is getting a hold of someone by phone. The service managers let it go to voicemail like clockwork. You have to leave a voicemail and wait for whenever they feel like calling you back. Booking an appointment is also inconvenient.

Second, as pointed out by the first post, their costs are ridiculous. Their labor charges are high and they round hours up. I took my car in for a look at the common suspension clunking/rattling noise and loss of boost from the turbo. They charged me 100-125$ for an inspection that couldn't have lasted more than half an hour.

Third, didn't get my problem fixed or diagnosed. They blamed my boost problem on my cold air intake. For the suspension noise, I had some worn out bushings and crapped out endlinks, despite that, they said they were in perfect working condition.

I wouldn't even bother going if you have aftermarket parts installed, because red flags will start raising in their heads.

I have gone there a couple of times and they tried to charge me a full hour of labor for a turbo drain seal.which is $8 from IPD and takes about 15mins to do urself.

I do feel that their prices are way to high even for dealers...there customer service to me isn't that bad actually its been good to me. But this was after a little run in I had with them.(I dropped my car off for something, long story short I came back just to check up on my car at like 2am and all my doors were unlocked).I know its small but still. So I came in the next day and chewed them out for that but anyway..there are other dealerships around...I have to go to one next week to get the software to turn my daytime lights off. I will be shopping around..
