Sooo....what's Going On With Lucky?

So ARD is the only place that does manual tunes for ME7? If so, I'd say he has a handle on that (even though it took 2 tries). Where's BlackT5? ARD tuned his and I don't think he's had an issue (took them 2 tries w/ his too though). And also if Lucky's the only guy out there that does these manual tunes, he must know something about what he's doing.

Bobby. Pull the piston on the forge valve and check for scoring. If it's clean, wipe it down, regrease with a synthetic grease and reassemble. But if it's scored contact angle over at forge and have Him send you a new valve.

Nick (94850) has his M66 00 R running an MTE tune from IPD. His car has always rand drove but he has had problems. I can PM you with more info and links to his threads later when I'm not on mobile

Will do, thanks

This makes me glad I didn't choose to get a discounted tune, and opted for the free t-shirt instead, after I helped ARD with their summer scavenger hunt thing.

I never did receive that free t-shirt though. :/

Ok, here goes. Back in May 2012 I borrowed a "green" as a promotional thing. He let me use it for a week as a try and see if you like it sort of thing. I liked this idea because I was mostly happy with the old ipd I was using.

When I installed it I "gave it the beans" and had massive misfires.. All 5 cylinders.

Finished the cruise, pulled the plugs, re-gapped the plugs to 025 and was back in business. Car ran great, boost was ~20psi.

Drove it 350 miles had a great experience. Spent the next week back to back comparing. Liked the ARD.

Returned the loaner, did some work to my car (manifold, NA cams, throttle body, new front mount..blah blah) and ordered a tune with EVERY detail of my car. Got the tune, soldered the diode (no fucking way am I paying $80 for sas delete), put the ecu in, checked waste gate preload, took it for a drive and after some mixed driving it wouldn't hit 14 psi no matter what. I checked everything. As most of you know I'm pretty detail oriented and very anal about my car. I knew for a fact it was 100%. I put my other ecu in.. No problems.

ARD back in.. 12-13psi, backfires, stumbling idle. Cel for MAF readings.

Old ecu in fine again.

Email ARD.. In this email I was extremely detailed about my car. Every part every setting..everything.

2 days later I get a fucking "thank you for purchasing ARD. Yadayada.. Stage zero is very important in these older cars making sure vac lines and turbo couplers...blah blah. Waste gate preload is also very important with the sensitivity of our tunes..(I posted the exact setting) The TCV may also be malfunctioning ( I told them it was new)." Then I got the $75 dollar an hour bullshit.. Thi wS from Michelle.

I replied with a "did you even bother to read my email?".. I'm not some kid who slapped a tune on a beat to shit p80 and am complaining." I pasted the whole email again and said not to bother emailing me back unless it was to fix this issue.

2 days later I get the "go ahead to send it back as you've done your due diligence.."

2 more days and he received it, "ran some tests" and determined it was "faulty TCV drivers". Ok sure.

"I'm giving you a new ecu. Sending out tomorrow."

Cool I think, he's taking care of me.

Get the replacement.. Put it in hits 18psi, no spikes at first.. Runs good. I'm happy I guess.

Couple days later it occurs to me I have no CEL. Why you ask would that bug me? Well, in my initial tune I had soldered a diode in for the lack of an SAS system. I had not done so on this replacement. Guess what? My diode was safe and sound in my "replacement".

Got the same one back.. So not bad ecu. Just bad tune and boost pressure upped.

Until the cel thing, I was on the fence.. Thinking he's a start up and there will be problems. After that, I don't know.. Bad taste

Grew up in a small business family, currently run one, have never worked for anything but a small business, so I tend to give slack to small business owners. But I feel kinda bamboozled.

This is part 1.

WOW :(.

That doesn't even make sense. If the drivers were bad, the car would operate on base wastegate pressure, no? Not like they were good enough to make SOME boost, but not hit target

That is what bothers me the most about this guy. He'll make up some technical sounding jargon to sound smart and try to confuse people so they just nod and accept. Same thing when I've dealt with him about the HD TCV. Started ranting about PID loops and the newer valve being "faster and more precise"...

Nothing wrong with having a product issue. But ADMIT IT (or at least look into it). Don't try to sound technical and start blaming other parts of the car when your product was the only variable changed...
