Sooo....what's Going On With Lucky?

This next one I'll keep short and simple, just so I can try to get some resolution.

Lucky, I'm not sure what's going on. But, I'm not just some idiot that bought a V70r because its all he could afford, I bought this car because this is what I wanted. I don't give up easily, and I will get some resolution one way or another. This isn't just about $770, its also about the fact that I can't drive my car w/ any confidence solely because of what you did to it. I expect an answer to my question regarding what you plan on doing about my ECM, and I'm done asking a question and waiting 48 hours for a response.

Edit: So this doesn't get construed the wrong way let me also say this: I'm very reasonable, but I think I've run the gamut w/ this. Just answer the question about what the next step is.

why don't you specifically email lucky about that? i doubt he's going to respond to this thread after the way this shit show turned out

Yep, I have and it's all good information Mike. It also shows that while there were issues with Lucky's tuning, there were also some issues with your car that caused part of your problem. So it's a mixed bag.

All I want is transparency in what is presented. If you're (and by this I mean anyone not speaking specifically to Mike) going to go after a guy's business then give rational explanations why.

Bobby, I appreciate you posting up the link and pointing to the maps, it helps further the discussion.

BUT, what you did was post the maps as if that tells us everything and then pointed to the thread. The problem with that thread is that you have to dig and search through three others to get the full details of what he's pissed off about and discussing what the issues are. So no, it doesn't exactly clear up the question.

I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm trying to nail down detailed answers.

You and Chuck were asking for firsthand experience. I found another person with firsthand experience, who had shots of exactly what was involved in an ARD "tune", and provided them. Because it's helpful, and it's not the typical "I heard he drinks virgin's blood" BS that's being tossed around.

You either can't do math, or you're implying Lucky pays less (favoritism). I'm assuming you have favoritism towards Lucky, which is fine. That's cool that you guys are bros. That also explains your reaction to this thread, and why you want to bury it. Why you want to put it where a lot less people will see, and less people can comment.

It definitely makes sense, but I can't say that I'm not dissapointed that you can't show unbiasedness when faced with something like this. Reminds me of the Swedespeed incident.

By definition thats not first hand experience.

I knew this thread was going into the crapper at some point. But, if much of this can be salvaged and dropped into the ARD review thread and pull in reviews from others elsewhere across the site then something good has come from it.

I don't want to be the guy who blows up my engine because I trusted an incompetent tuner. BUT, I also don't want to see a guy's business savaged if he's not the bloodsucker some folks are making him out to be.

So here is my take on the subject.

1. ARD ME7 tunes are not bad because they are "off the shelf" but because they are BAD.
2. I want to applaud everyone who took the time to post up details of maps and even a easy explanation to why they are bad to people who have not dealt with ME7
3. I find it interesting that ARD doesn't even attempt to fix or explain the situation. No, they are in the wrong and know it.
4. The other interesting factoid is that its not just tunes that ARD seems to be having problems with lately a number of other products have been lacking.
5. I think this is a perfect example of the old adage "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink"

7. I think its a shame that people would rather try to dis-credit this information then to hold a vendor accountable.

We have a vendor review topic and forum for any firsthand experience. This topic is strictly political at this point. If I wanted to burry it, it would not be in a publicly viewable forum.

Different kind of politics than this particular forum is used to but I applaud the move Chuck.

And Fishey, I think there's something of substance to what you're saying from all the reviews and discussions I've read where actual experience and evidence was shared.

By my read, it sounds like if you own a moderately modified P80 (850 / SVC70) then Lucky has tunes that can support you. They may or may not be good shelf tunes.

Once you move beyond that, well lots of questions start to surface. There do seem to be issues with manual transmission ME7 cars - whether that correlates to more highly modified cars or if it's the manual transmission that is causing tuning issues, it's not clear.

I actually did email him. The headaches for me surround what seems to be his 48 hour policy. This gets frustrating because when there's an issue, you have to work through a few variables to get to the root of the issue; and given the amount of supposed variables coupled w/ 48 hours/response, this is taking too long to figure out. For instance...

Me: Lucky, why's this happening?... (48 hours go by)

Lucky: It might be related to your wiring.

Me: I don't think it is, here's a bunch of pics... (48 hours go by)

Michelle: Lucky knows what he's doing, it might be related to your wiring.

Me: I'm pretty sure its not... (48 hours go by)

Fast forward to 3 days ago.

Me: Lucky, what do you mean when you say my ECU might be bad?... (48 hours go by)

Lucky: (Short version) May have shorted out during the write process.

Me: Should I be concerned?... (48 hours go by)

Lucky: Probably, but maybe not.

And this is where we stand.

Bobby, here's a recommendation. And I would / might do it when I find time to do so. Take the relevant posts out of this thread and drop them into the vendor review thread. It seems the point is let's get past the shitfest that's going on and focus on actual owner experience with Lucky.

If you want to really be good, go track down the rest of the build threads / review threads where people talk about their experience with Lucky's tunes.

Make it comprehensive and then who can possibly complain about people drawing their own conclusions. Then tell people who are PM'ing you to go post their own thoughts in the Vendor review thread also.

It's not really that hard to understand is it?

I agree w/ you and Chuck. You guys that are just ranting w/ no experience are only killing any opportunities to find any kind of truth. I would even ask that if you decide to go that route (move legitimate claims into the ARD review thread) you leave mine out. I'm not ready to make a review, at this point I'm just taking notes along the way. I will say I won't give customer support a 5 star review at this point though.
