NEU
As some of you know that I've had Snabbs prototype ME7 RIP in the car for the last couple weeks and would like to give my review of it. First a little history. It all started with a converstion 2 years ago, Kristian and I had a at Carlisle about the ME7 RIP. Since then I worked with him on my thoughts on the design. I've been thinking about building one for several years. And as some of you guys have seen I even started building my own, I had the top secion built started building the bottom, but the hard part was the Throttle pipe. Either reusing the oem plastic pipe or doing something custom. Kristian added his design ideas and between the two of us... BINGO! ME7 RIP! The install of the parts is very simple. I had some issues trying to get everything together, the silcone wouldn't slide easily on the piping. But a text from Kristian to use wd40 to lube the silcone to make things line up was the only help needed to get this installed. Looking at the parts the oem piping is 2.25" vs. Snabbs 2.5", the throttle part is 2.75" so most of the oem restrictions are eliminated. The best part about Kristians design is that it's modular, so that he's able to use part for lots of other kits or if you want to start with an RIP and work your way to a FMIC it will work too, or you can just use parts as you like. Also the piping is aluminium, vs. Do88 stainless ME7 RIP which I is not good from a heat soak stand point since it retains heat vs. aluminum. After installing I took it for a spin. I could tell it was less laggy then before. But this is where I ran into another issue, with my car, not the RIP. I have an upgraded WGA, with the oem piping I was able to have the WGA set to crack at 10psi. Once the ECU learned the new setup and will the RIPs shorter piping notice that I was hitting overboost with my tune much earlier then I as before. The ECU would dial back the boost. I played around with it for several days lengthening the WGA arm, driving it till it relearned the new setting and I finally found a happy place. I don't have the cracking pressure but it's less then 10psi and more then 7.5psi, over the holiday I will test the WGA to see what it cracks at and will provide that info. Now if the oem system could handle 10psi, but not hit the boost limit at xRPM but the RIP could, that means that the lag of the oem was A LOT compared to the RIP. So in my mind this is a complete sucess!!! So now that WGA was set properly, one of the things I notice right away was not how good it is at WOT, which it is. But how responsive it is and it's very noticeable at low RPM and at low throttle! The removal of lag from the system was expected and it is so much less with my 19t, then it was before. This is really how it should have come from the factory. The excessive oem plumbing in my opinion kills the driveabiltiy of the '00R. Now I'm so happy with just crusing around town or driving in traffic. Can't wait to see how this responds in the heat of summer. Plus the best part about it, it's soooo damn beautiful! So shiney!!! Unfortunatly my work blocks a lot of sites and I can't access my photos so all have is my iPhone pic. I'll update again with better photos... I will also give a how to on installing it at a later time too when I have access to them. I lastly want to appology to Kristian for not posting this sooner. Thank you for another amazing product for the Volvo community!

rmorse
Best photo I have available thru NMCI... I'm not even going to be on NMCI at my new job. Apparently, the network I'm going to be on is waaaaay more strict too. What is that leather-looking thing covering your turbo?

J-mart
good review and it looks awesome, but why no p80 non me7 kit? The vast majority of this community is comprised of 850's and 70 series with the older style manifolds, i would figure that would sell even more. just a thought
NEU
I believe it's due to the market. Only one other ME7 RIP on the market, Do88 in Sweden. Plus there are several M 4.3/4 RIP kits are available. IPD comes to mine...
J-mart
ipd should include vaseline for the prices they charge on most of their products, including their rip kit
black98t5
Thats a nice looking kit! I think RIP kits are definitely the way to go with the smaller turbo builds. You have a great looking engine bay as well!

Or call Kristian. Thats a nice looking kit! I think RIP kits are definitely the way to go with the smaller turbo builds. You have a great looking engine bay as well! Thanks for the complement. I'm handy with a rattle can. I noticed you installed the Do88, intercooler and RIP, is that aluminum piping? I know the ME7 is SS and will work but not as well as aluminum. black98t5
Yes they are aluminum. According to the site the ME7 is SS and the ME4.x is aluminum. So find someone else... Or call Kristian. Thanks for the complement. I'm handy with a rattle can. I noticed you installed the Do88, intercooler and RIP, is that aluminum piping?
