mags98c70
I'm kinda torn on this one. I already purchased an HID kit for my headlights on my 98 C70. I don't have the box with me, I think they are 8000K. I am doing a bunch of work coming up, and I just feel like adding to the list. I may....may convert the fog lamps to HID as well. Here's where I'm stuck though...What color to buy I've seen cars driving around with matching color HIDs....I think it looks sharp (but that's me driving towards them, not seeing the practical application of bluish fog lights though. Fog is a problem where I live several months out of the year.) I'm also under the belief that yellow fog lights pierce through the fog better. I'm also used to old school fog lamps being yellow (Believe it or not, I don't think I've seen any vehicles around here with Bluish HID headlamps and yellow HID fogs) Thoughts?...constructive ones please . I really could care less how stupid you think this is.
woah4
I think 6000k headlights and 3000k fogs looks great and works great too, it's what I will be going with on my new truck. I had 6000k all around on my 850 and it looked nice but the yellow fogs work better
flyfishing3
I"d never run 8k but thats up to you and asking to be pulled over and not much good light. i have 3k fogs. they were worth drilling out the holder.
Fudge_Brownie
If they are 8000k, they're going to be leaning on the purplish side, getting away from the bluish look common with 6000k. So if you're going to use the 8000k you have, I think the 3000k fogs might look a little silly. But if you're interested in fog lights for their actual purpose, I'd deff. go with 3000k. I don't have experience with HID fogs, but isn't that going to throw too much light and reflect through the fog? So it'd have the same negative effect as trying to use hi-beams? Good point about the purplish color...maybe I should look into 6000K and get rid of the kit that I got. I could also test them out in the car to see how they look before drilling and installing. Also a good point about the amount of light. I guess i was hoping that the angle of the beam (and the projection of the lens) would help with glare in the fog. Piston Slapper
Whatever you do, put them in proper projectors, don't just shove the bulbs in factory headlights. As for color, I'd say 5000k... not too blue or yellow, just white.
pedro fandango
i've got 6000k's in all my lights including in the main beams, their 55watt versions tho
quiksilver
I've got 4200k HIDs in the ABM low beam on the V70R, 3000k HID foglights. C70 has matching 5000k HIDs in the foglights and ABM low beam. I would never run any HIDs over 5000k, just stupid looking and less light.
woah4
Yeah mine look more blue in pictures than they actually are. I had 3000k hid highs for a little while too, they were INSANE but i got rid of them because i did not like waiting for them to turn on. But once they did... wow. I guess another way of looking at it is do you want the fogs to be more of a driving light you leave on all the time, or an actual FOG light that you turn on when the conditions are right? If you want it to be a fog I would go 3000k but other wise match your lows, I say this because I personally find yellow HID's far more blinding coming from the opposite direction, so you will got a lot of people hating on you if you left them on all the time. If you want yellow but not giving glare to other drivers, go with a yellow 100w bulb instead. my .02 Here's my car with 6K's lows and stock fogs Heres the 6k fogs, never got one with the headlights on though unfortunatley And here is what I currently run for lighting, stock fogs just didnt do it... lol
Burn-E
Yellow doesn't make a damn difference in the fog except reduce your light output. http://www.cartalk.com/content/do-fog-lights-work-do-they-help-you-see-through If you're doing different colors then realize you're doing it for aesthetics and not for function. Anything over 4300k means you're getting less light output. 8000k makes no sense at all. http://hidlightreviews.com/hid-color-chart/ If you want white go with 5500k. I would love to see pics of both from the front with lights on. Your pic shows their ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD ends in the garage....Take the same pic with the cars backed in, lol Yellow doesn't make a damn difference in the fog except reduce your light output. http://www.cartalk.com/content/do-fog-lights-work-do-they-help-you-see-through If you're doing different colors then realize you're doing it for aesthetics and not for function. For the headlights...HOLY SH*#, the ones that I got are actually 10000K (definitely not using them!) I want just a hint of blue, not a smurfing time trying to smurf. Nothing too obnoxious, but still lighting up the road well. Do I need to get a whole new kit? or can I keep the ballasts and order desired bulbs? Fog lights....still waiting to hear more from everyone.
mags98c70
And here is what I currently run for lighting, stock fogs just didnt do it... lol HAHA I had KC Daylighters on my old Wrangler. I think they were 150W...They seriously earned the name "Daylighter" My cop friends were sooooo pissed when I forgot to shut them off. Mainly because they were jealous that my lights were brighter than the spotlights on their cruisers. (Didn't do anything in the fog though)

quiksilver
You can keep the ballasts and get new bulbs. Check: http://www.vvme.com/hid-headlights/hid-replacement-bulbs I don't have a current picture from the front with foglights on (only installed C70 HIDs a couple weeks ago). I do have this, left is 5000k, right 4200k. Keep in mind that the V70R/4200k is about one wheel length ahead.
