boxpin
How did the clutch hold up before the tranny gave way? That kevlar disc looks an awful lot like my fibre-carbon one I just realised. Apparently very well First time I have seen that a gear broke on a M56. I assume this happen while in gear not on a force full shift? It was a forceful shift. Second to third, the car started to pull for just a sec then boom

Zappo
Most of the damage I have seen has been ring gear, usually from 3000 RPM clutch dumps at the drag strip. First I have seen of the actual gears striping, but I am sure the Euro guys have seen damage like this before. Usually if one tooth goes the rest will go if the car is still under power. boxpin
That is a 4 car garage you just cant see the rest. The sad part is that there is zero room for a car.
boxpin
Rebuilding the turbo after my crop dusting event. I have been having BOV issues so I am switching to a Synapse Synchronic. I have been fighting compressor surge and believe this may have lead to the seal failure. So new BOV, billet wheel and anti-surge housing. I have not inspected the seal channel on the turbine wheel. If needed I will replace that as well.
Tightmopedman9
The anti-surge housing can delay spool up by 200-300 RPMs, and for me the extended tip compressor wheel completely eliminated surge.
lookforjoe
Faulty BOV / compressor surge will absolutely toast the thrust plate and subsequently the seals. My original problems arose firm trying to use a turbosmart Recirc - way to small of a dump for 20g or larger. You really can't go too large - it's precision is primary though. Need one that is absolutely tight under vacuum/ part load. I can swear by the Greddy RS in that regard.
Tightmopedman9
The Synchronic BOV is awesome, fastest responding BOV I've ever used or witnessed. However, it is so sensitive that it will vent under very minimal pressure differentials. Not a big deal if you're re-circulating, but a nightmare if you're not. NitroX5
As far as I know, BOV related problem is only appears on the thrust bearing compressor side. If you have this kind of wear, then that should BOV fault. (there is an explanaiton if needed) Mine was badly worn on the back side. Almost 1mm slivered out by the washer. I'm assuming some scenarios what could caused back side worn in my case: excessive backpressure in exhaust (3" race cat, revised stock muffler with 2.5" pipes inside directed in a much smoother "S" form) running 22psi in this exhaust system mismatched wheels by 20G hybrid, in operation the bigger cold side always pulls the little turbine wheel This is Hussein's worn thrust plate "front" side/ Compressor side (mine has zero wear at here!! however I always had slight "compressor surge - flutter dump" - for a year, then massive flutter when new BOV installed with improper spring - two weeks only)

Tightmopedman9
Now would be a great time to upgrade compressor wheels. You could say good bye to compressor surge and hello to a lot more power!
