If I remember correctly, Hussein went through a time where he was going to sell the XR.

Look where he's at now, think on it and please keep the wagon.

Yeah, After I nearly killed myself with it :arob: Her name is Christine......

Edit: I saw you have a RN head...but my theory may still standing

Surely you have enough oil press...it must be just a crap sender.
When I had low oil press because of the pump gasket fail, the fist thing I really notice it has a diesel sound in every rpm. (low oil in hydros) The light didn't come up.
So I really shut out that you have 0.5Bar oil press and nice sounding engine!

Well sir, how do you feel today? Have you done any investigating?

The frustration and anxiety will subside, just give it some time. I was reading back through your thread and took note of all of the fun you had along the way. Don't lose hope!

best of luck

Is not easy, on a different level I been trough the same problem, engine rebuilt with 15-20k on it let me down two days before Carlisle Show, open up and there was the rod bearing on cyl #2, sound like diesel = piston was hitting the head!

Is worth to drop the pan and check was going on before you give away all the nice work/time/passion on that car!!!Good luck with the Car.

Just out my own curiosity, why and how does the oil light come on and stay on when you spin a bearing?

The crank has a hollow cavity along its center that is fed by the oil pump. There are holes in the journals that allow the oil to escape and lubricate the gap between the crank journals and bearings. When you spin a bearing the surface is worn down and this gap increases. This gap increase allows oil to flow out around the bearing and into the pan more easily, thus decreasing oil pressure.

No, the oil pressure is reduced by the large gap in the rod bearings, and that lowers the pressure everywhere. The oil pressure sender gets it oil from around carnk bearing #4? I think, but it doesn't matter which bearing is bad, the pressure is low everywhere.

I'm admittedly skeptical of Glyco replacement bearings sold on the aftermarket (sputtered or not... from reading around, no direct experience!), however I wager that this is not a spun bearing but something that is much easier to rectify.

Rooting for you over here, Boxpin! Watching this thread and waiting to hear some findings. :)

Well, the engine shop didn't tell me there was anything wrong with the Glyco's, at least that I know of, but he said something about running into some bearing issue that raised the price by 200$, but didn't really go into it, but I think it had to do with the stock mains, not 100% sure.
