iPd Cameron
That stinks but there will be others. Indeed - ended up scoring one of the Tivoli players on eBay for $85 shipped this weekend. I like that price muuuuuch better than the $300 new price. Hopefully it sounds as good as it looks. Dick Dastardly
Picked up an Adcom GFP565 pre-amp and a pair of B&K M-200 mono blocks today.. Running the Adcom Direct into the B&Ks...400 watts of high current power into each 4ohm monitor.. nice. Soundstage and imaging are amazing... and the amps are like 50 pound apiece space heaters

Curious after the reaction to my latest purchase Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. I just can't get behind the idea of spending hundreds of dollars on just copper wire. v4lve
Oh but sometimes there's trace elements of other metals and let's not forget the quantum difference in micro dynamics, rhythm, pace and inner detail.

Sold all of my Audioquest cables 5 years ago I've heard really good stuff about the Belden for both intercooler's and speaker wire, was going to order some but then got a bit lazy Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. I just can't get behind the idea of spending hundreds of dollars on just copper wire. No harm, no foul. I certainly did not spend hundreds and I'm happy with my purchase. Oh but sometimes there's trace elements of other metals and let's not forget the quantum difference in micro dynamics, rhythm, pace and inner detail. Can't tell if sarcasm, but it seems to me speaker wire / ICs / power cables to audio people seem to be what oil is to car people - a never ending, nowhere debate lol
Dick Dastardly
The biggest differences in sound can be made with room acoustics and proper speaker placement. So many people get caught up in tweaks and cables and have horrible speaker placement.. (and I don't think used Kimber 8 is caught up in cables or tweaks. It's The $35k power cable guys that are the idiots) or have a light dimmer switch on the same circuit as their turntable and buy a $1000 cartridge because "it sounds better" and all you can hear is 60cycle hum from the dimmer
Fudge_Brownie
Anyone ever heard of a HT receiver's IR input jack dying?A family member's fairly complex set up involved a IR receiver wired to another room. After someone removed a few components of the configuration, the IR receiver stopped working. He removed the IR receiver, plugged it directly in to the HT box and it wouldn't work. We borrowed one from a comcast cable box, and found it didn't work either. Nothing in the user manual about a way to disable the IR jacks. Seems like either the jack is dead, or the comcast IR receiver is not a good substitute and the existing unit is toast?

Try a known good IR receiver. They can go bad. if that doesn't work then investigate the jack on the receiver. What brand A/V receiver? Fudge_Brownie
Harmon Kardon AVR 330. He mentioned the original IR unit should light up green when receiving a signal, which we never saw it do. I suggested trying to use a DMM to run a signal through it. I guess we should have verified the unit off the comcast box worked, which we didn't do.
