Believe me it sucks that both of these events are on the same weekend, but 46 different breweries....and walking stumbling distance from my house. NEU Posted May 7, 2014 Author Report Share Posted May 7, 2014 John, the Beer Bacon Music sounds intersting. Not a lot of MD beers though... Lot of out of towners. But they do have a lot of GOOD VA beers, Devils Backbone , Blue Mountain , Starr Hill . All are great breweries, and we've done most of those as brewery tours for Skyline Drive Tour... But when they have Kona, Stella, WTF??? I'm more interested in the bacon then that beer... I think the better shows are the MD Craft Beer fest, B-more Beer fest, Brew at the Zoo and some other MD festival... Just saying.. It's not like you'd miss out on something different. Plus they are missing the best MD Beer EVAR!! Just busting your chops John... I'm glad you will finally get to hang out with us again, it's been AGES since you've been around. Cops are always heavy on that weekend in the state of VA....usually on the way back Sunday. I81 through Va's western part on the way back from the top of the state down 150-160 miles I saw 17 troopers either running radar or already having someone pulled. A few years ago I was one that was pulled for window tint.....and then anything else he could see fit to write a ticket for. If IIRC Chase's group passed me while I was sitting there pulled over. Only time we've seen a very heavy cop presents was in Thurmont, which is near Camp David. One year they had the G8 summit and protesters were expected so BIG MD state police presents... But other then that one hidden radar trap spot in York Springs, and I slow everyone up for it so it's not a suprise... Parts of 270 can be heavy patrolled but not on a Friday, not a big deal since we are bailing out at Fredneck too. For Sunday, again if you hit 270, that's the biggest cop area, they have lots of werid undercover vehicles too, pickups and Toyota Camerys. Just run a radar detector if you are worried and make sure you pull it off the dash if you get spotted in VA (it's illegal!!). MD and PA they are legal. I've never had issues in VA runing it, even when I got pulled over for "illegal" tint in VA, but my car was reg in MD. "Hello officer, do the letters F O mean anything to you..." Anyhow, they have radar detector detectors... yep, been popped for that, too. Putting it under the seat won't help you. either. I just try to chill... after all, I may have a little headache. Waze is pretty popular so I usually have good warning if cops are out. Users will report when there are road hazards or cops, helps me stay out of trouble. Also I will have to stop at the front gate at Carlisle to get my sticker/pass/etc since I just ordered it a coulpe days ago... Some might want to stop at the hotel and check in too when we roll into town, and maybe get a trundle bed or two.... Others might want to hit the beer store...
