ConorV70R
ok i have a 00'VR and i desperately need to get these horrible faded purple looking tints off it and have them re done. just trying to get a feel for what i should do, i want to do all of the rear windows and probably the front ones too. the car is black and i think it would look good with all of them done just seeking some opinions. Also the trim along the rear windows has bubbled a little and looks bad. what is something you can do to make that look better? I can post pictures later of the rear window trim. tighe
15% front, 25% rear, 35% cargo area and rear window. I like the smooth gradient.
NEU
30% in the front, 20% in the rear. I used to be legal when I lived in Maryland and in Virginia I'm Illegal (front side windows need to be 50%). A friend had his cargo area windows done with 2% tint and couldnt see anything when he was backing up at night. Another issue with too dark on the driveside window is at night all you will see is your dash lights reflection and can't see out the window. Another friend had his van front side windows tinted 5% and had to drive with his window rolled half down at night ALL THE TIME! The nice thing about our windows are they are curved and you can get away with not having to run very dark tint. You might not need the darkest you can get legally. ConorV70R
I really like the smooth gradient on that first one. I don't want to go to dark i'm more wanting it for functionality. My sisters 330xi was from florida and has some SERIOUS tints on it and driving it at night is just horrible. now has anyone done the front windshield tint? i'm talking the lightest you can get. having it more for dash protection. I remember seeing somewhere that 3M offers a front tint that is not dark at all but offers UV protection.
tighe
^^ Nice blue!! ^^ FYI I can't see anything when backing up at night, even with supposedly brighter-than-stock LED reverse lights. A backup camera could help that.
Timbo Slice
I just had my car tinted, granted I'm in a sedan, but I went 35% on all the side windows and 25% on the rear windshield. Personally, I think it looks classy to break up that fishbowl effect, yet doesn't have that "murdered out" look. If I had a wagon, I'd do 35% front and rear passenger windows, and 25% around the cargo area. Mind you that's on the brightest, sunniest day Cleveland has seen all year. ConorV70R
yeah i am definitely not going for a murdered out look. not my style. i just can't look at my car any longer with those horrible roll on wal mart tints the last guy put on. they're bubbling in the back and just have the oddest purple off blue look to them
Timbo Slice
Wherever you go, make sure the tint shop tints it with 3M. If anything happens to the tint in the lifetime you own the car, you can take it to any 3M licensed tint shop in the country and get it fixed for free. 3M will pay the shop that fixes it for you. Edit: unless you're ginger, then go darker like Travis.
ConorV70R
oh good piece of advice on the 3M. ok but what about the trim around the rear cargo area windows?? has anyone dealt with that. it really throws the looks of the black off when i'ts bubbled and faded a little
burnout8488
15% front, 25% rear, 35% cargo area and rear window. I like the smooth gradient. Numbers reversed? 35% would be lighter than 15%, and it looks like the cargo area glass is darker than the front.

sacrifice
I have 35% all around on my s60. I love the "smooth" look and being that it's an 04 it ties everything together. While 35% is considered a light to moderate tint it still offers a fair amount of sunshade with minimal night driving annoyances. Imho, it all depends on local laws and how strict law enforcement is in your area. In NJ, we are not allowed any tint on the front windows so that was a big factor in my decision but it is still light enough on a sunny day that it doesn't look like I'm hiding yet still offers uv protection. I wear glasses 80% of the time and its nice not being blinded by the sun.
Commander Riker
Did 20% all around. Usually I rock with the sunroof open or at last not covered. The additional light makes it appear that the fronts are light. Never had a cop say anything, and Texas has passed my inspection 3 only grumbling about it. JOHN_CENA
I have 15% all around, never got grief from law enforcement for it
BlackBrick
35% all around. Heard stories of people unable to see out back or in side view mirrors at night at 20%. Also, I think it looks best when all windows are the same. And 35% is dark enough, you can just see in during a bright day. When the light is low, like late afternoon, it looks very dark.
