SeanT
So I found a guy who will sell me his td04hl 16t turbo and turbo exhaust manifold for cheap. I want to put this in my non-turbo '00 S70. I know there's a lot of headaches with 2000 models. If I can get my hands on a turbo back exhaust, a turbo oil drain line, and coolant hose, what else do I need to complete this conversion? Is it possible to take an ecu from a T5 or would I need a tune? Yes I understand the cost of all this.
Phil94850
Probably be easier just to purchase a turbo car.. a lot less headaches...
SeanT
I've been told that a million times, but my car has history and has been one owner so I know that's not something I want to do.
ben.oniga
You'd need the oil pan as well, and a pressurized oil line to go into the turbo, plus the coolant lines rigged up somehow
TryingBe
I hope this isn't your only car. For hardware at minimal, you'll need Turbo Oil feed line Oil return line Oil pan Coolant hoses Coolant pipe on the block Coolant pipes at the turbo Lower radiator hose Exhaust manifold Turbo donwpipe Turbo catback Injectors Intake pipings Intake box Intake hoses Intercooler Good luck figure out the electronics. I would buy a turbo parts car with a broken engine/trans so you have everything else you need.
lookforjoe
May be more differences in the engine management with NA / Turbo ME7 - you can't swap ECU's, so you need to talk to ARD or any one else able to tune ME7 to find out if it is even possible to use the NA ECU with a turbo tune - can't be done with 850/x70 running M4.4. This needs to be determined before you even think about any hardware swaps.
jschaefer7406
May be more differences in the engine management with NA / Turbo ME7 Come on H, there IS no N/A ME7 on a P80 . The OP's S70 would have Denso injection, so definitely not compatible with an ME7 tune file... As said, anything is possible but would be better off buying a turbo car . Hope this helps, Joe
fwdGTP
Waste of time/money, a Turbo car can probably be purchased for the price of all the parts and it would work 100% and you'd have 2 working cars instead of having one rigged together car. The car really wouldn't be that fast anyway so it wouldnt really be worth the headache.
German850R
Buy a turbo car as donor and replace the whole engine and peripherals. That's cheaper and easier.
Commander Riker
Nope. Let him try to turbo the NA. Apparently he hasn't read the plethora of threads covering this. Can it be done? Technically yes. Beyond huge PITA though, IMO.
SeanT
Alright alright guys, I've done the math and realized it's a complete waste of time and money. Went to the junkyard this weekend and they didn't have any T5's or GLT's. I'll just put this idea away for now.
BlackT5
Aww. If you had persisted with the idea, this would have quickly become a 10 page thread.
