mags98c70 Posted August 22, 2014 Report Posted August 22, 2014 Hi everyone. I'm at an impass here. I wish I was in the market for BBK's but I can't afford it with work needed on my car and my wife's...and I plan on going back to school for more teaching extensions. For the time being, I have decided to rebuild the stock front and rear calipers, and put in the brackets to put 302's on my 98 C70. That should get me through until I can find a better setup that I can afford. While I have everything apart, I decided to paint the calipers and hangers to prevent further rust and corrosion. The question is...what color??? I don't want to go red because I think there's no point unless I'm going to the "big reds". It would look ridiculous. My coupe is saffron, and I plan to paint my canistos anthracite (gun metal) after I straighten them a bit. I've narrowed my choices down to... anthracite black silver saffron (or as close as possible) Opinions welcome, thanks!
JOHN_CENA Posted August 22, 2014 Report Posted August 22, 2014 Silver, it will give attention to the 302mm brake kit
Burn-E Posted August 22, 2014 Report Posted August 22, 2014 Black. If they're not a BBK the result is too small to be worth calling attention to. That and you don't have to worry about cleaning them.
Timbo Slice Posted August 22, 2014 Report Posted August 22, 2014 If you paint them pink, you and Justin can both have obnoxiously colored things on your car (I'm just anticipating it happening sometime soon).

I've seen pics online of a hyundai with pink, and an audi with seafoam green. Lmao... maybe I should have mentioned that bright colors that are only found in the large crayola box are right out. And I really dont want to call attention to the brakes, so I guess saffron is out. Black and silver both sound good, but I'm still on the fence with anthracite.
hotpantslovebug Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 Black, clean and doesn't draw attention to our baby calipers. Do at least four coats of caliper paint, only did 3 on mine and they are starting to rust.... so like 6 would be best.
Timbo Slice Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 I'm contemplating going bright yellow, but then again I can pull it off with my calipers.
quiksilver Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 Go black. Our stock calipers are not something you want to draw attention to. I'd do red calipers for Saffron once you've got a BBK.
mags98c70 Posted August 23, 2014 Author Report Posted August 23, 2014 I'm contemplating going bright yellow, but then again I can pull it off with my calipers. On your S60R? That would look good I guess. I like the way the stock R calipers look with your color. It matches nicely.Black, clean and doesn't draw attention to our baby calipers. Do at least four coats of caliper paint, only did 3 on mine and they are starting to rust.... so like 6 would be best. Black it is. I'm planning on doing at least 4 coats. Plus caliper clear coat and caliper primer. Go black. Our stock calipers are not something you want to draw attention to. I'd do red calipers for Saffron once you've got a BBK. I'll cross that road once I find the right set of bigger calipers. Im not picky. I'd get he red or black porsche or the gray P2Rs if I come across a really good deal on any of them
quiksilver Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 The P2R front calipers cannot mount up, however the rear calipers will work on the rears of these cars.
Tightmopedman9 Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 I know someone with a Saffron C70 and they used the Volvo Saffron touch up paint to paint their stock front calipers and Brembo 'R' rear brakes. While I think the idea of not drawing attention to the puny brakes is good, his calipers looked pretty boss.

Well I just learned something. I thought the front ones did using a bracket. I saw someone that did, but he did some serious midificatiins to get it to work....not an option for me. Guess I'm at least looking for porsche fronts. Thanks!I know someone with a Saffron C70 and they used the Volvo Saffron touch up paint to paint their stock front calipers and Brembo 'R' rear brakes. Hes got pics if his saffron coupe in a room with a swedish flag in the background? I actually contacted him for suggestions for exterior styling (body kit amd rear lip on trunk). That was my reason for wanting saffron calipers in the first place.
