Un-archived the thread.

Made a new intake and deleted the ptc. Goodbye post MAF leak. Ran the pcv line to under the car.

Re-soldered the connector on the TCV it was making contact when I checked resistance but when plugged in was not making any connection to the ECU harness.

Finally getting boost again. My stft and ltft are amazing and the wagon just overall feels better driving it.

Had knock between two cylinders when going WOT. Not good. Seemed to be a fuel delivery issue where afrs of 11.8 were supposed to be seen but was only seeing low 13's. Fuel delivery definitely was an issue. During starts for the last 3-4 months the wagon didn't really stumble but the startup seemed tough for the car. Probably was a sign of an aging pump.

Replaced fuel pump and filter with a dw200, car starts better and feels better driving. Gonna take it for a real drive once the ice melts here. No pics, you all know what a fuel pump and filter looks like though. Slowly bringing the wagon past the stage 0 I've been chasing.

I don't see anything actually crossed off the list.  Did you complete those projects or just stand around in the garage drinking beer and think about doing them?

Love the list, fits right up there with previous MWC work lists.

I've done this. But at least he took the time to write down a list of what needs to be done...you know, since the weather was nice. I just stood there and ADHDed for a while.

Got them all done and found my oil leak I've been chasing for the last few months. Tried to upload some more photos and words but VS told me to eff off. So ill try uploading them later. Then I drank this after completing said list

So this happened about 3 weeks ago.

Resulted in this.

Intake cam seal was flopping around outside of the head behind the cam so obviously that is where all the oil came from. Managed to pop it back in with a screwdriver but I have free towing within 30 miles, so better safe than sorry and got it towed back to my parents house.

3 weeks of waiting on parts and free-time, I got to work.

Long arduous process, mostly me being super paranoid I was gonna monkey up the timing and bend my valves. But all seemed good after lining things up. It isn't too terrible in theory if you have the locking tool and some touch up paint. Both seals were in and all was lined up.

Tried turning it over for the first time, try being the word here and it misfired like crazy. Thought, well that was weird, tried it again, it started to run, but then slowly killed itself... So after working on this thing for around 9 hours, it still didn't run. I knew it was timing related but I rotated the engine again and again, all marks were in line with the cover as well as on the block. Called Brandon as I was completely out of ideas and ready to burn it to the ground. He gave me an idea about the CPS and the little half moon thing inside the CPS, I had marked the CPS sensor to make sure it was oriented properly but the half moon shaped piece that connects to the cam was not in the correct position, I found out. I looked up online and found that since I am running a distributor, that when the engine is TDC, the rotor is supposed to face cyl 1 on the cap, while the half moon shape is supposed to be at the bottom. Clearly was not in the right position.

I rectified this and all went well, it started up and sounded even better than before. No leaks visible. Happy person I was!

Drove for a few days, no boost etc, just to make sure things were kosher. Apparently they are not. I went to soccer on Wednesday night and after leaving I looked behind me to check for oil and sure enough a small puddle timing cover side.... So I drove it back, checked the oil level, it's acceptable, but I am so pissed off at it it has sat since then as I don't even want to look at it.

At least my mode of transportation to work won't leak oil

TL;DR - Cam seal leaked, did timing belt successfully, replaced seals, oil on ground after replacing a week later, ready to destroy it.

For anyone using the cam locking tool I highly recommend spacing it out like the picture here so you don't break off a bolt inside your camshaft. Just a friendly FYI for people who do this job.

sorry man :(

You have a daily though, your sig says you have an 01 v70?

I have a 98 Coral AWD but due to other circumstances with my parents 99 XC70 I have been letting them borrow it for some time now... so a daily would definitely rectify this whole situation.

Dude... bummer.  Been there.  You will get it fixed though.

I hope so. That entire side of the engine has new seals. Cams, crank, oil pump.

Sucks

Don't give up tommy. Just take a break for a week or two and get back to it. I'd give a hand if you weren't in Illinois lol.

Thanks man! I won't I'm just voicing my frustration instead of keeping it bottled up cause then I'd give myself a hernia. Thanks for the offer though, I'd take you up on it if you were closer lol
