Hello people of Odin! oh wait.... its just the car that's Swedish but you get the point..... I have officially joined the Volvo community with the purchase of my 1997 Volvo 850 AWD 5-spd Sportswagon... Currently has some issues with the motor, but I know what she's capable of :D

Some pics of the car (sorry for the size):

No I did not buy from Cameron....

yes the R badge is something likely from a Honda guy. Surprised it doesn't have DOHC striped along the side lol

It IS a 5-spd transmission which = M58 transmission?

V70R is AWD?? So... what you're saying is, I could make this fast and make it a V70R predecessor :D hehehe......

Not really sure where to start with this bad boy, but I really like the look of those Pegasus wheels! DEFINITELY gotta take that ugly R badge and PowerTEK logo off the car. ALMOST wanna take the AWD off as well..... maybe Volvo as well and leave JUST 850? I'm one for cleanliness however reppin what she's got is cool too! haha

I gotta find me some new seats as well seeing as the seats aren't in the greatest shape :(

Yea, I just texted Cameron and talked to him about it. He still has his. That's crazy....so there's two turbo AWD manual 850s in olive green in the PNW right now haha

Yes, the AWD 5 speed is an M58. Pretty rare, especially in North America, we didn't get any manual 98-00 V70 AWDs or V70Rs and only Canada got the 850 AWD.

Wait, I thought we got 850 AWD. It's the combination of turbo + manual that makes it rare as hell

All the 850 AWDs got the LPT engine and I am pretty sure they all were M58 manuals, there's no listing for an AWD automatic for the 850. They were only made in '97 for select markets and were pseudo-prototypes for the various AWD 870s. I've never seen or heard of an 850 AWD in the USA that didn't start life in Canada.

Well........ then I guess I will be holding on to this one for a while and putting extra care into it considering its rarity! I Knew it was special when I saw it..... so thats how she'll be treated :)

That being said..... as much as I want to slam her, put some sexy wheels on it etc etc, I did buy it for a purpose. To me, it was an XC equivalent in 5spd. So how do I bad-assize this Sportswagon?? I gotta start googlin and decide what path I want to take with it.... ugh! I'm torn...
