gmsgltr
Who done it? Looking at 'kits' and other car forum threads etc and for what seems to be a pretty easy project to me, a lot of people are over complicating it. Where did you relocate it too, spare wheel well? Whered you run cables? under carpet or along side of the car and door sills? Did you buy a kit and which kit? greg
T5power
I have seen it done on a few other types of cars where it's actually behind where the center console is, covered by some type of plastic cover that's carpeted. basically making the two rear seats more divided, having a larger "hump" in the middle. i think it looked pretty cool, and pretty stock too. It's cool especially if you don't have a lot of rides with 3 people in the back seat.
cleven1
I got all my wire and fuses and such from a local wire factory. I ran mine under the carpet in my s40. I was able to get it so cheap because it was just "test" wire from machine start up. I put mine in the trunk. Very easy i do not see why people make it harder than it is. loseR99
I did a write-up on this on my old S40. Most of the pic links are dead form when the site changed over from s40concepts to 30forty50. You can get the just of it though, didn't take any longer than it would have to install a stereo, amp sub etc. If you are running an amp, just make sure power wire to battery runs opposite the rca's. Otherwise you'll get some noise. I ran power down drivers side framerail. http://www.30forty50.com/forum/topic/11200-how-to-battery-relocation/page__st__-20__p__166473__hl__+battery%20+relocation__fromsearch__1#entry166473

Kit Vexed
get a light weight battery instead of running wire (adding weight) and ripping up carpets..
loseR99
get a light weight battery instead of running wire (adding weight) and ripping up carpets.. It's not necessarily the weight of the battery, it's the distribution of the battery weight on the vehicle. They're mounted in the front drivers side, same side as your trans...same side as driver. Moving the battery to the trunk lightens the load on the front end, the biggest improvement I noticed was handling and braking performance after battery relocation. andyb5
And by removing the battery from the engine bay, you are freeing up space for an intake filter, adding a WMI reservoir, etc.

gmsgltr
Please enlighten me on this part... Why? Benifits? Larger? and what year 540s?man you aren't on here much anymore what year? don't know... the e39 platform though - I think the 540i? its a bosch unit that accepts our voltage filament insert in just a larger housingwhy? because most people are maxing their stock mafs out even on 15g/16t's, folks max out the 960 maf on 18t's... I am doing 20t. (I want 20t and 20psi and the safest way possible with plenty of room with feuling and the maf - 540 maf, and gt500 ev14 injectors)

I am doing 20t I'm really not as much as I ust to be. 1995 - 2003 then? Let me know if you find out exactly which you need. Looking at interchanges im seeing just for 00 540 it crosses with 00-01 740s and 01-03 X5. At least thats what I have on my shelf that shows for the interchange, could be many more years then those I listed - 4.4L engines.

I forget what the id/od is but the great part about this maf is the self tuners have tables for this size and can tune the car accordingly without sacrificing anything...
