Jh4music
I made the mistake of hooking up the battery while one of my seatbelts was unplugged, now I have the SRS light on. My understanding is you need a special scan tool to clear it. Has anyone used the i906 tool? Does it work on an 850? http://www.ebay.com/itm/VOLVO-Diagnostic-Scanner-Tool-Reader-Code-CHECK-ENGINE-ABS-AIRBAG-LIGHT-RESET-/171536509348?hash=item27f05f69a4&item=171536509348&pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr I have a 1996 850 turbo wagon. erikv11
There are several options, Autel eu702 works great, I have used it on my 96 and my 98 for SRS (plus everything else): http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2014-Free-Shipping-Autel-Maxidiag-EU702-Code-Reader-OBD2-EOBD/32222990768.html see also http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=67820
Jh4music
Thanks. Glad I opened a new thread. Based on older posts, It looks like SRS reset was not possible with a diy scanner until recently. Does the Autel unit also allow you to reset the service light, and possibly reprogram it's interval? The price is certainly nice on the autel. Just wondering if the i906, being marketed as a volvo specific scanner would have any added functionality over the autel. Matty Moo
I've been using my autel for 3 or 4 years and I also use vol-fcr. I've never seen that thing you linked to or know of anybody that has... So you would be the Guinea pig if you decided to try it out.
erikv11
No go on the service light with the autel. Pull the bulb.
Stevo11811
Vol-FCR? seems to do everything else, airbag and what not, even the SERVICE RESET, which always frustrated me
Jh4music
The service light is annoying, but only lasts for a few days and then seems to go away until the next "service time". I just wish I could program it to come on at the times I want so it's actually useful.
erikv11
No, it doesn't only last for a few days. It will be on forever until you reset it or until the bulb is pulled or burns out. The light comes one for 5 minutes or so every time you start the car. Take a look next time you start it up.
Jh4music
Well, I think I am going to be a guinea pig and try the icarsoft i906. According to their website, it does allow you to reset the service light: Resets Oil Service Light, Service Mileage, Check Engine Light, and Service Intervals It looks like a really nice unit, I like that it's self contained, and the UI looks easy to use from the pictures. Jh4music
Also, I found at least one other person on another forum who has used the i906: http://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-s80-18/s80-diagnostic-software-25660/page4/ See post #77. Jh4music
It's kind of frustrating trying to figure out where to buy a legit version of this thing. The site icarsoft.us says there are only two official sites for icarsoft, and several places selling counterfeit units. The icarsoft facebook pages says there are counterfeit units on several sites around the world, and the only safe place to buy is a UK supplier. burnout8488
Put your location in your profile, maybe someone near you can show you VOL-FCR or an equivalent tool.
ashvolvo
$15 Vag-Com cable off of amazon and a copy of Vol-FCR.VOL-FCR and a VAG-Com cable will do it for sure.
Jh4music
I ordered a VAG-COM cable since they are so cheap, but I'm not sure if it will be worth the trouble. I'm having a hard time finding compatibility info. I'm assuming this software is pretty old since it apparently only supports 96-01 volvos. Does the VOL-FCR run on Windows 7? All of my computers are macs, and too new to support natively booting XP. If it must use XP, but will work via a windows emulator like parallels desktop, that could work, but I don't think I have anything that can boot XP natively.
