March 2014 - Acquired many nice parts through the winter. Met Bmac and got everything installed and then had Steve tune it the same evening. Long day but everything has held together like new since then.

Snabb kit was a oh yeah! to install, lower pipe need to sit just right to make it all work.

18" of space was nice but we almost needed more.

Tint and Clear Bra - No surprise it doesn't show up in pictures. The Tint Shop of Rochester NY did a great job. Happy to protect the newly painted front end. (barely visible below)

'Winning' Only two volvos that weekend so I can't be too happy.

Found a guide form what what i can't believe is 10 years ago. Thankfully the pictures are still up http://v70r.com/forums/topic/1667-ohlins-strutspring-install/
Had to get a offset box wrench but it was really the only tool for the job.

good to see you posting, I'm sure you're itching to get the DO88 parts just as much as I am

btw do Ohlins use the same strut mount as normal shocks?

From what i could tell it seemed similar. I can verify in a few weeks when they return.

The shocks mounted upside down so it may have a different sized end up there. At the very least they are unlikely to wear out from dust/dirt as the actuation portion is contained withing the golden tube.

The mounts are also in very nice condition. I imagine they were replaced once already.

They use the same strut mount and spring seat and little rubber washer (that everyone forgets exists) but the bump stop is totally different and I don't believe available through Volvo. You also can't replace these items without essentially doing a rebuild or you end up unhooking the pressure hose and losing some of the shock oil and theoretically losing pressure. You can change springs easily but not the hardware. To change the springs you undo a nut on the bottom and then the tube slides out from the rest of the shock as more or less shown above.

To the OP: looks like a lot of nice stuff on your wagon!

Thanks man I've seen and read many of your threads/posts.

The mounts didn't look bad when I sent them out. Came off a California car so they are all nice and corrosion free, my fingers are crossed too that the rubber boots are less worn from consistent temperatures.

Nice job, I'm sure the car runs great w/ Steve's tune

Its been excellent so far. Very excited for the upped brakes and suspension to compliment it finally. I think I can use a lot more of it with proper supporting mods.

Nice work so far man, can't wait to see it with the Ohlins installed!

I'm excited to see the different they will make, stock original suspension in there right now and I can feel it being bouncy on my normal little run about. Waiting to here back on the spring rate of the TME's still to have Performance Shock properly tune the valving.

You have Öhlins? Wtf. :(

It came together kind of at the last minute.

Found the rears new through a really nice guy overseas, supposedly the last brand new set available in Europe - dealer receipts and all. Fronts were the ones for sale in October via swedespeed. I know the coilover setups would likely rival price and performance but I really like Swedish made parts and trust their ability to hold up in the long run.

Plus it's Factory & the Ohlins Valves look cool mounted on the strut brace :D

Waiting to here back on the spring rate of the TME's

For the TME AWD nivo springs, the rate was about 30% stiffer than stock, but you'd have to find out what stock rate was. ;)

BTW I was not impressed with the quality of the front TME springs. Mine were dead after 80K miles and had a coil budging out on both front springs. I've upgraded to H&R springs.

With the rate i've been driving the car in the summer months i've probably got 8-12 years to worry about that then. Something to think about though.
