Ah, aluminum brazing; very cool!!  I must confess, I'd never heard of that before.  Now I know how I'm going to install my WMI port bung onto the intake pipe!   Thanks!

It was really not as difficult as I first thought. The videos make it look pretty easy and I think in the end it was. Just took good prep work.

Here are the rods I bought. They also had a little video of all the uses etc. http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-HTS-2000-18-Aluminum-Brazing-Rods-STARTER-KIT/270726153179?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

For small jobs it can work quite well - just be sure you 'tin' (heat & apply a surface coat of the braising material) the surfaces prior to joining, it will make for a more complete join. Just like solder & traditional braising, the join is more complete that way. I used it to do IC piping before I bought the TIG, and for large areas like that it was a royal PITA - I would not recommend it for that at all. Small OD work is not bad.

I was thinking of attaching the other beaded end to my current one but I'm glad I didn't It's some what imprecise when you get it going and especially on a curved surface it can quickly run away.

Tig would be essential doing larger areas.

Sometimes you have good days and sometimes you have bad days. Had a bad evening drive home that could have been worse. Lost all power and then smelled gas. Really panicked and got over the 3 lanes while coasting as fast as I could.

The line popped out of it's holder. I was even just driving normally. I had done a hard pull during this trip but maybe 10 minutes earlier.

Is there a way to ensure the end is still good? The AAA guy was nice and we jacked up the front of the car. I clicked it back in and I was good to go. Came home and opened it again to see what was up.

Is this back on the tank or somewhere else?

I'm working on re-doing all of the fuel lines on my '98 R and these stupid quick connections are the biggest issue I've been running into. The standard push-to-click ends that are available at the parts store are too short and won't clear the lock ring and the straight versions are too tall and hit the floor. I did find adapters online that will click onto the fuel pump and have A/N fitting adapters on them for A/N lines. I haven't tried them yet though to check the fitment. I wish the original ends were still available. That would make this easy with some nylon tubing.

Certainly would! When Ben did my pump he re used the elbows by the pump. Almost makes me want to keep a look out for them at the yard from now on.

This is where the long line meets the engine block.

Going to go with some of those 5/16 to AN fittings myself.

Still need to give it a few hard runs but I think the fuel line issue is resolved.

Used the following parts with success. Russell  624000 644110 & 660000

The screw type GM ->  AN connector is pretty sweet. Feels very secure and the o-rings make a really tight seal around the hardline piping. I likely didn't need a oetiker clamp on the -4 barbed fitting but It feels better to have one there.

-4 aeroquip tube fits neatly inside the oem tube tray under car device as well.

I ended up cutting out teh old fuel line a few inches into where it runs over the tank. I didn't have the resources to bring the tank and subframe down enough to see the whole top area. I figured this way I wouldn't break any of the tiny parts on top of the tank and with how robust this tube it being clamped into place (Tank hose Car body) it would be just fine that way.

Left a bit of extra incase I do ever take the rest of the rear end down and want to run it clean the whole way.

Used a 90* connector from a junk car at the end to ease the turn the new tube has to make. I ran it right by the filter feed line / the filler neck. Zip tied it to both along the way to keep everything in line.

Well-documented. It sucks that a lot of the fuel parts are NLA now but your solution looks pretty robust.

Forget NLA that OEM fuel line is $993 from tasca!!

Drove it today to give everything a shake down and the lower line seems perfect. Now the top decided to let go, the "striker plate" is bent out of shape and so there was some leakage occurring.

You mind posting up or PMing me a part number for that fuel line. $993 is absolutely insane. I imagine the 99 has some different lines than the 98 as the fuel line setup is different but still curious to see what's available here in Germany and at what prices.

Thanks in advance!
